What makes a dreamie?

I like to have a variety of personalities in my town, so I try to find villagers that I like the look of/houses that look interesting within each personality and then go from there. But also, when random villagers move in, I've definitely clicked with some, and become attached when I wasn't expecting to. Maybe a little like real life friends in that way

For me, only the looks really matter to me, I don't care about personality. If I think a villager is cute I'll probably talk to them the most in my town, until we become like best friends and we make up a secret greeting for each other or whatever. But also my dreamiest are mainly the old villagers I had in my town

I chose them because of their houses. You'll see a lot of blue and pink houses in my town. Also, when a villager moves in, it's usually because someone voids them to me and they are usually meh villagers (Henry is cool though).

I usually choose them based on appearance. I love all the personality types, so I don't really care about that (I think it's good to have a little bit of diversity in a town, it's boring if all your villagers say the same things). I'll usually pick the one I think are the cutest! My favorites are deer, eagle, bunny, and cat villagers are my favorites!

My major dreamie; Frita, has extreme emotional significance to me.
It was when I came out during highschool and was being abused by my peers, was playing hide and seek online in someone's town and I ran into Fritas house to hide. Ever since then she just means a lot to me emotionally, like the one friend I had when there was nobody else.

Well, for my town I wanted at least one of every type with no copies of animal types either. Then it boiled down to the ones that were cute and I had their amiibo card. Finally those guys stayed long enough I just started to really like them.

For Ribbot, I chose him because he seemed ironic as a Jock. I still giggle at him every now and then.

Etoile I think was my only real, true "dreamie" in that I wanted her the moment I saw her. I adored her looks, really, but her personality is nice and fitting as a Normal too! It's like if I designed a character that's what it would look like~

I was curious what, exactly, makes a villager a dream villager for you?

Is it their appearance/aesthetic, or their house?s interior or exterior appearance/aesthetic? Their personality? Did you love them in a previous AC game/town, and that carried over to New Leaf/current town? Did you not have them in a previous game/town, and really would like to get to know them?

Does the villager popularity list have anything to do with your feelings toward a certain villager? Do you immediately check what tier someone is when they plot their house? Do you wish the popularity list didn?t impact your thoughts, but it does? Would you want a popular villager to see what all the hype is about?

Has a random villager ever moved in and made you love them? Have you ever had a dreamie move in and they didn?t live up to expectations?

I know that?s a lot of questions, don?t feel obligated to answer them all, I?m just curious about your thoughts overall

For me, it's typically a bit of looks and a bit of personality. I just got Julian the unicorn. I absolutely LOVE that he's a unicorn. And, I'm still trying to get Vesta/Eunice/Stella. The sheep are my favorite, because they're so round, fluffy, and cute. But, the ones I just mentioned are all normal... And, I think normal is probably my favorite personality type.

Something that makes you spontaneous combust over. Except it's not a fiery, terrible death. It's more like confetti of sparkles and happiness.

I must admit that the most important thing for me is their appearance. I want my villagers to look either cute or peculiar (for example, you wouldn't say Hopper is cute, but he's very different from all the other penguins and to me that's what makes him a dreamie). I also care about the villager's house's exterior appearance more than the interior one, as their furniture can be changed by sending them gifts, though it'll take some time. I have some dreamies I used to love in the previous games, but the reason I fell in love with them remains their appearance. I also try to vary personality types, but it's hard because I seem to have a thing for normal and lazy villagers, lol.

I don't really care about popularity. If I like them, I like them, the tier they're in doesn't matter to me. However, Tia recently moved in and although I think she's incredibly nice and cute, I must say she didn't live up to my expectations (which is sad, because I used to love her in my previous save).
