What is your town theme?

Mine is an eclectic mash up of what I like in terms of natural and man-made design from various cultures. There's also a nice balance of uniformity in the layout and making it look like I just went with the flow. I also left subtle nods to how the island looked when I started; for example the original location of my starting house now has a wooden birdhouse there with the same old colors.

mine is a ruins / celestial theme!

it was this way before the 2.0 update so I absolutely adored the new ruin items!!

broken paths, statues, gardens, star items, fountains and all that jazz ✨

Mine is just.....pink everywhere. I know pink islands were really hated on in AC:NL and maybe they're still hated on in NH but I tried to do something different on my first island and just hated it. I tried to stay as far away from a pink theme as I could just I just couldn't stand it and reset. At this point I'm just gonna make an all pink island because it makes me happy and it makes decorating so much more fun for me!

I don't really like having a theme at all. I just like making areas that I love, regardless of theme. Basically just making an island I'd want to live on hehe.

same here! It is like a small rural town (look up kenilworth, qld, australia for the irl inspiration. also montville, qld) I have a uniform-ish town area, but still looks slightly overgrown. going for a cute little lane of shops! no specific theme like cottagecore or far core as such, just where I would want to live.

Do your own thing! Seriously if you love pink you go make a pink island, no matter what other people think or say. It is your island escape after all!

My plan for my island was to actually have it split into two towns. The first is Error (the name I've given all of my main towns in the series), which includes all of the island's main buildings and most of the island's villagers, and includes everything South and East of the river's Western section. I wanted that section to be the more urban type of area with a fair amount of development. The area across the river is Vista, which was made to be a small sort of farming community type of deal. At the moment it only includes a single villager and two player characters, plus a not-so-great attempt at building a makeshift cafe using a cliff, simple panels, and floating mario brick blocks with a warp pipe inside leading to a blocked off room in my main house. This area is where most of my island crops would be, alongside a planned orchard which I've decided to scrap due to lack of space. Work on the island has been incredibly slow lately though, so I don't really see either segment being completed any time soon.

Hard question that is. Got some zen spots, but more like citycore with froggy items. Really hard to describe. I build whatever I want, no matter the theme. But probably I could call it froggycore. Second island is also close to citycore, but mainly autumn theme. My favourite season, all cozy and bright.

mines like a kidcore fairycore kawaiicore theme lol

My island has a Pokemon theme.

My island name, flag, and tune are all Pokemon related. I have a whole area I made that is Pallet Town. And I have an area that looks like the Pokemon Stadium stage from Smash.

Honestly, I don't know. I've just tried to make it as homely as possible. Initially, I think I wanted it to be horror themed. But, as time went on it just became a combination of ideas that I had in my mind. Lol.

I’m just doing what I think looks aesthetic, which means it’s basically a cottagecore world with a very scary haunted forest and also cemetery that have nothing to do with the rest of the island. Because I’m just that special. Or at least, that’s my plan. I’m a relatively new player lol..

I don't go with themes.

But I thought about it when I was checking villagers and had thought if I could get villagers named by How I Met Your Mother.

Based on how it’s decorated, flowers and gyroids…with an amusement park vibe given the teacup ride and concession stand. (I wish you could ride it with the villagers omg.)

Honestly I kinda don't know LOL

It's just a mish-mash of things I think would fit well with an overlying theme to unify the island, which I guess would be a cute outdoor garden party look? With the main colors being pink and white, and lots of terracotta, lattice fencing, and flowers <XD
I also have a lot of Nova Stars and Star Clocks lying around cause I wanted it to look like fallen stars where all over the island, plus they look pretty and help to add light when it gets dark!

I don't stick to that theme all over though, as I have a residential area for my villagers but they all have yards that are catered to that specific villager; I also plan to make an amusement park/boardwalk near my island's pier, a beachside casino, and a small "nature-y" area for my Campsite 😅

I'm working on creating another all cat island after deleting my last one. Haven't decided on a theme yet but I like a more natural island. I have Memory from Cats as my town tune and a cat flag.

I'm thinking of going with an Asian theme for my future island. I'm a big fan of Asia, especially China, Singapore, Korea and a bit of Japan. They are lovely places to visit (I think, I haven't been everywhere yet) and from the pictures I have of them, the beautiful pictures I mean, it gives an incredible vibe. I took a lot of inspiration from what has already been done on Animal Crossing thanks to Tumblr and Pinterest and that increases my hype. I want to make a city that is half technological, half natural with an enchanted forest where strange creatures live or a witch deep in the woods (I'm thinking of Spirited Away). There are a lot of amazing items in this game especially since the last update, I can't wait to get started!

There's no strict theme for Wahu, but it leans heavily towards being a somewhat realistic small town. I only wish they added more building designs you could choose from for your villagers, because I can never make the outside of - let's say a shop - ever look good in HHP. It's rather easy to design the interior to have it resemble a convenience store, but on the outside, it's just a normal-looking house. Almost every house on the island is simplified (except Tom's; I made his interior resemble a gym locker room) for that reason. There's always the option to make a new player house with a different local Switch account, but trying to decorate it without time travelling is very tedious.
