I have a lot of amiibo cards and MOST of my faves, but there isn’t a ton of fun to it. It is convenient for moving a villager out or a favorite in, but island hopping is the most exciting (albeit inefficient) way to find villagers. I enjoy it because sometimes a villager pops up that I never considered, but can’t resist inviting to my island.

Island hopping by far! Campsite is a close second. It’s really fun to go to an island and check out who is on vacation! I also like it bc it’s so much faster to go through islanders than the campsite method. I only used the campsite method to find that darn four eyed cat and def got burned by it (cycled through 70 campers...)

Campsite is fun though! During my journey I found quite a couple cuties! Rosie who is an absolute fave and that pastel cub who is not a fave for me.

i prefer isalnd hopping, i have a lot of tickets, no amiibo and very little social energy so it's easier that way. campsite method seems really tedious imo

I think all options are good, it's difficult to get all your dreamies and even more if you don't TT.
But I will say the most thrilling method is Island hopping.

This is how I rate the happiness of getting a new villager :
Island hopping > Campsite > Amiibo = Trade

everything except trading/purchasing on forums
random move ins don't really work rn bc I'd just get voided villagers but I did that when I started playing

i have a few of my favorites as amiibos and I wanna find the rest on my own by either island hopping or the campsite method
also I'm a bit addicted to island hopping, I might kick one of my faves out just to be able to go again lol

For now, randoms and islands, sometimes campsite.

My goal is to unlock all the villager posters on the actual catalog page, and for that I must invite everyone to Photopia. Amiibo are out of the way, now I invite every villager I haven't already unlocked, no matter where I meet them, and use my cards on the campsite to get those out of the campsite pool. If I come across my non-card dreamies, I'll keep them of course. The dreamies I do have as cards will be invited once my poster quest is over (or I'm tired of it).

Island hopping until dwindle down my patience to nothing and take the next best villager.

I don't have it in me to burn through 10+ stacks of tickets. So my limit is like 5 tickets and then I just want burn the whole world down.

Campsite only now since I love all my villagers and will only let someone go if somebody I love more shows up in the campsite. No more island tours for me at this point. Too risky. Plus, Tipper the Stalker still hasn’t got her restraining order so I’m staying clear off the islands.

Island hopping. It's pretty exciting and also nerve racking seeing who will be there, waiting to be adopted. I also get excited when Isabelle says there is a camper at the campsite.

I've got one amiibo villager, but I'm wanting to not use them as much as I did in NL.

When there are no more slots for new villager, i use Campsite method, but when there is at least one free slot for new villager, i use Island Hopping method

Island hopping if I have lots of NMTs to waste or if I'm hunting a specific normal or lazy villager. I could do campsite method but goodluck trying to find one out of 90+ normal/lazy campers. If I'm broke, well, I have no choice but to look for them in the campsite. I don't feel accomplished scanning an amiibo so I don't do it. There is a beauty in trying to hunt them, not to mention, very exciting.

But isn’t it still better to look for the normal/lazy campers even if you have to go through 90 of them, at least you’re sure they’re gonna show up within 90 tries and there won’t be repeats? In the islands, you’d never know for sure if they will even show up at all. Not to mention, so many repeats.

i’m very picky about my villagers and don’t tt in any significant amount, so island-hopping is the only way to go for me~

I like all the methods except for amiibo and campsite method! I've gotten a few of my villagers from random move-ins, trading, and 2 or 3 trips of island hopping 😃 I think a mix of everything is more exciting than just one method - otherwise I'll most likely burn out lol. (esp island hopping - people are so patient)

I recently bought three amiibo cards online and I love the certainty that soon I will have all of my most wanted villagers.
The campsite method is something I gave up on after only two hours of trying, island hopping for someone specific is kind of jarring and I'm not a fan of buying/ selling villagers online. I've gotten three of my dreamies gifted which was awesome but it's not something I would rely on, so amiibos seemed like the best option for me.
Luckily my amiibos weren't too expensive, around 15 € total. I guess I'm either living in a country were the hype isn't that huge or I just chose unpopular villagers 😅

I'd only do that if I have about 200+ tickets to spare but yeah, you're right. It is still not a guarantee that I would find that villager, regardless, unless it's Marina or Zucker. But overall, I still prefer the campsite method when I don't feel lazy. 90+ tries would be exhausting though (more or less). The thing is, you would still see villagers from other personalities so it's about 50-50. I'd probably take that if I'm desperate and don't have enough nmt.

I bought some amiibo after trying the other methods. While I do partially like the randomness that comes with island hopping, I hold onto most villagers for a while, so I like having the option of moving in someone that I know I am going to like. I can also freely give them whatever clothes and gifts because I can always get them back in their original form if needed.

I also like the campsite, but since I don't TT, it seems too slow to make it my primary method.

I picked "whoever moves in moves in". I don't intend for it to happen that way because I do have some favourites but that's usually how most of my AC games go. I almost always become attached to my original villagers and end up keeping most of them and planning my game around them. It seems to be the same way for ACNH as well! Other than that, I also rather use my amiibos if there's a villager I want to replace. I don't really like dealing with villager trades online so I'd like it if I could control it myself as much as I can. I'm also way too lazy to island hop BUT I'm going to finally attempt it tomorrow because I want to get Cyd and he doesn't have an amiibo yet. Never tried the campsite method but I probably wont be doing that either.

Amiibo, no contest. I know the exact 10 who I want to live on my island and I'm not interested in going through hundreds of Nook Miles Islands for weeks (like I had to do for Tucker) and coming across tons of repeats before eventually finding who I'm looking for. That sounds like, and from experience I can say is, the opposite of fun for me. Aside from that, Nook Miles Tickets can be a form of currency that shopowners here on the forums accept, so I'd much rather hold onto them to use for purchases. Haven't tried the campsite method, but even that sounds like an inefficient pain.
