At the moment I choose island hopping. It can be a bit of a drag after a few trips -- especially if you're stopping to collect resources -- but I like the random aspect of stumbling across a villager you hadn't really thought of and finding them a good fit for your island. :lemon:

My favorite method is island hopping, but the most optimal is probably the campsite method. There were days when I wanted a random move-in but no one wants to move to my island unless I tell them to. I can leave plots open for days and not find anyone.

I don't own any amiibos because they're super annoying to get in my country, so my preferred method has always been adopting. I usually use TBT, but if I'm in a hurry I'll look through discord. I find island hopping very frustrating, I'd rather just get the villager I want right away :(It was exhilarating at first, but after going through every single mouse, gorilla and anteater in the game before I found even a single deer I have not enjoyed it at all.

I love island hopping b/c sometimes, it gives me something to do. I don't get as excited getting a villager when I just buy them off of someone. I know it's part of the whole idea that I'm actually playing a gacha game, but it just makes it so much more fun to obtain villagers for me!

After a while I plan to use my amiibo cards more as I have a tonne of them, but for now I want to experience randomness and get to know villagers I wouldn't have chosen.
I won't be letting and mute completely random villagers move in though, as I'll just get everyone from my husband's void, which is a shame.
So, island hopping is my favourite at the moment but I'd love the campsite too if anyone ever showed up there!

I use amiibos. I find island hopping too stressful! Once I'm done the only villagers not moved in through amiibo will be Pietro (he was my forced campsite villager) and Erik (traded online for him when I had an empty plot as he was stuck in a void from my friends island and the amiibo wouldn't work).

If I ever start a second island I might ban myself from using amiibos and just stick to island hopping.

I kinda like island hopping but I have a bunch of Amiibo cards and bogus fan made NFC cards so I mainly use those.Island hopping reminds me of the old trick from New Leaf where you knew you were guaranteed a camper on the day after the campsite was built and you could keep starting up your town with a new save file and you'd get a different(well, usually)villager camping every time. The RNG is similar.

I chose Amiibo, since I know who I want the majority of my villagers to be... but I am taking my time with it, and want to scan them in every few weeks (though I am still waiting for some of the cards), while holding open a spot for one random move-in eventually. That way, I can still experience other villagers through island hopping and the campsite (not doing any of them very hardcore though, since I don't want to spend hours and hours on it). O, and the campsite method I am not doing at all. Way too much time spending TT'ing instead of playing the game.

I have traded, but with the exception of one or two trades, it took ages (some couldn't get the villagers I want out on time, etc.) and I got scammed once. I did have pleasant experiences and am really grateful for those people, but I am never going to buy a villager again. I am planning on giving the ones that are moving out away, since I think it is sad to void them. But I am not holding spots for several days again (which was partly my own fault), while not getting enough sleep because of waiting. And trading often included TT'ing - which was fine for a few times but I am not making it a habit.

So yeah, I mix of everything excluding trading and the campsite method at the moment it is, then :)

I enjoy island hopping, because the random element is fun for me. I do have a list of villagers that I would like, but if I find someone else that I think is cute/interesting on an island, I'll take them. I don't want to have all my dreamies right away.

I would have answered island hopping, but to be fair I actually got more villager by trading than island hopping!
I like both, island hopping because it's random and allows me to get ressources, trade because I usually go on here or discord and see which villagers are up for free, and if I like any I get them so they don't go to the void and I meet new villagers!

Wow, I'm honestly surprised at how many people are still island hopping, despite it costing NMT. (In contrast, the campsite method requires no NMT at all.)

I personally don't really care that much about getting new villagers. I picked up a couple of villagers from the forums to round out my initial cast of ten villagers, but from there I largely just moved people out / in as I pleased.

Island hopping has been really fun for me so far. I've gotten 6 really nice villagers in my 40 trips so it's definitely been worth it for me. Best moment was when I found Muffy on a bamboo island. First dreamie I've found so far!

I use my amiibo cards though I have NOT moved any out and back in due to their house even though I have their card. To me that wouldn’t be the same villager, just another version of them if that makes sense.

I actually bought Buck, Apple and Cranston’s cards after having them stay with me in New Horizons because I liked them enough and wanted to be able to invite them back. After I cycle through my cards (I have 6 jocks) Buck will return to be my permanent jock and I look forward to seeing his real house - he’s become my all time favorite jock.

Having the cards removes the worst part of Animal Crossing for me, having to deal long term with potentially multiple villagers I don’t like with no way out. It’s made New Leaf and New Horizons a bit less stressful. I was able to be cordial to Pietro because I KNEW he was leaving as soon as I had my 10 and I had a friend waiting to give him a home. I even say hi when I visit his new island. :)

What makes it really cool is I’m able to still experience RNG with the campsite though I have not had anyone that made me want to change my current line up.

I usually just take who ever moves in. I like the surprise of not knowing and coming across villagers I never thought I’d like or want. I also sometimes invite random campers. So just the other day I found Sterling at my campsite. I’d never seen him before but bloody hell, he’s cool! So Big Top got replaced for him 😅

I voted Nook Miles Island tours because I think they’re fun, but without hybrid islands it’s not AS fun to me as before idk though! My boyfriend said they’re like opening a present though which I think is accurate.. you either get something amazing, mediocre, or awful! There’s certain villagers with over 1,400 NMT spent that I’ve never encountered still though and I think THAT is honestly pretty busted

Recently, I moved quite a lot in via amiibos because I wanted to have some of my favorites living on my Island sooner.
However; I do hope that some of the villagers I want gone move out soon naturally so I can get to go Island hopping again - it's been forever.
I'm also excited to meet more villagers.

A sort of combination of island hopping and whoever moves in, moves in.

Actually my thing is more of that people usually let go the villagers they hate, almost never a good one
Good is highly subjective with villagers.
