So, lately, I have been curious about peoples' least favorite months. From what I have searched up, January seems to be the most widely labeled as the "worst month". I wonder if that will be the case here, or if this community generally has another least favorite month.
And I am a statistic for this. January IS my least favorite month as well.
I tend to dislike January because it can get too cold, nature and things are just dreary, and there is usually nothing to look forward to until February. I also relate to the "post-holidays blues", since the holidays is a fun and eventful time of year, and then January just feels stagnant.
This is a hot take and a counter-argument against my take on January, but unlike most people, I actually like the longer nights. However, everything else people tend to not like about January, I have to agree with.
Also, I tend to usually feel very anxious and even slightly unhappy during January. January 2017 (my first January since graduating, actually) and January 2021 were the WORST examples! The irony is that the years as a whole were some of my best ones.
I wouldn't call myself a superstitious person, but I also usually tend to have bad luck during January. >_<
My hyper-vigilance during January also adds to the whole mess.
Looking back to my school age years, my least favorite month used to be July (my July before my senior year - July 2015 - year was ROUGH)! It was just very depressing that I would be stuck at home, stir-crazy, not being able to see my friends, but still having to wait until the end of August for school to start back up. If anything, January was actually a bit exciting back then, since it felt nice returning after Christmas break.
But now that I am out of school, thing have flipped. My post-school Julys have actually been pretty good, while my post-school Januarys are generally subpar.
I actually have things I am looking forward to this coming January, but usually, I am literally just dragging myself through the month and getting to February.
