So, lately, I have been curious about peoples' least favorite months. From what I have searched up, January seems to be the most widely labeled as the "worst month". I wonder if that will be the case here, or if this community generally has another least favorite month.

And I am a statistic for this. January IS my least favorite month as well.

I tend to dislike January because it can get too cold, nature and things are just dreary, and there is usually nothing to look forward to until February. I also relate to the "post-holidays blues", since the holidays is a fun and eventful time of year, and then January just feels stagnant.

This is a hot take and a counter-argument against my take on January, but unlike most people, I actually like the longer nights. However, everything else people tend to not like about January, I have to agree with.

Also, I tend to usually feel very anxious and even slightly unhappy during January. January 2017 (my first January since graduating, actually) and January 2021 were the WORST examples! The irony is that the years as a whole were some of my best ones.

I wouldn't call myself a superstitious person, but I also usually tend to have bad luck during January. >_<

My hyper-vigilance during January also adds to the whole mess.

. . .

Looking back to my school age years, my least favorite month used to be July (my July before my senior year - July 2015 - year was ROUGH)! It was just very depressing that I would be stuck at home, stir-crazy, not being able to see my friends, but still having to wait until the end of August for school to start back up. If anything, January was actually a bit exciting back then, since it felt nice returning after Christmas break.

But now that I am out of school, thing have flipped. My post-school Julys have actually been pretty good, while my post-school Januarys are generally subpar.

I actually have things I am looking forward to this coming January, but usually, I am literally just dragging myself through the month and getting to February.

April by a long shot, every year crane flies find their way into our house and then I'm the who has to kill them because I fear and loathe them the most.

Sure, there's Easter, but it a holiday I wouldn't celebrate if it was up to me. (I still have to because my family is religious.) I guess the only good thing about it is the TBT annual egg hunt, but I've lost interest in collectibles at this point.

August for me, because it is HOT. I would have voted for both July and August if I could.

I would be interested to see a poll about people's FAVORITE months, to see if the numbers eventually are the same but opposite. For example, if someone says January here, which I love because of the cold and snow, and @Shawna were to say there favorite was August after disliking January... it would be an interesting couple of polls to compare!

Also I wonder if it matters where people live? Some people have mild climates year round, but others get extremes

Well, I don't like January as OP posted. It's winter, dark, and COLD! I was always more of a Spring/Summer type of girl.

As a teen, I could never adapt well to December. Christmas was just bad during that period of my life. I was definitely more of an October girl back then because I LOVED Halloween. Now, it's the opposite. I don't like Halloween and I like Christmas now lol.

September...September 30th is my birthday so that month always revolved around me. I always hated getting older. Also, when I was a kid/teen, it meant back to school, so it was hard to accept it. Also, is the beginning of darker/colder days. It always gets me bad. But there's still fall type stuff like at my age now (not in the past) it's the beginning of pumpkin season. I LOVE Pumpkin season!

My love for Spring months is unmatched. Not too hot or cold (though I prefer warmer). It's still the beginning of the year technically so everything is still just...FRESH! Days are longer. I always envied people with Spring birthdays like March/April/May. And the anticipation of summer is a beautiful thing. But I just like Spring.

I'm voting January. Worst month. Too cold. Too dark. Ignore my above ramblings. I felt like typing it. Deal with it. Lol.

February because it's the shortest month. That means the bills are due for March before I know it LOL

I don't have an overall least favourite month, there's pros and cons for every one of them. If we're talking about least favourites in relation to certain things, then I 100% have favourites and least favourite, but some of them are saddled together. But I feel like I can't just isolate a singular month as my least favourite when there aren't those categories

For mental health, I do not like November/December. During winter months - even with the lack of extreme weather where I live - my mental health goes on a decline because of seasonal depression lol

For school, I don't like May. Exams are always annoying and unlikeable, and I get stressed just seeing other students stressed lmao

Holiday-wise, October. Its not that I hate Halloween, but in comparison with other holidays, it's my least favourite

For weather, June/July. Again, even though we don't get extreme weather, I still much prefer the cold and darkness of winter over warmer months. Like it can be fun to have bright weather but I don't want it to last too long

I don’t like January but November is usually the worst month for me. It’s cold and depressing and something goes wrong every year 😂

It kinda throws me off to see January the most hated, considering my birthday is in January O_O But I hate August the most, since school starts and it's still extremely hot, at least May-June would be summer vacation and September-December has bearable weather!

I have an online friend (off-site) who was born in January and even HE doesn’t like the month.

I know this is two months but I absolutely hate June and July (and August but a lil less since it's closer to Fall time). They're the two hottest months here and I honestly hate the summer. I'm very sensitive to the heat and it makes me so unbelievably cranky!!

For me, it's March. Where I live, we get many snow storms in March, when most of North America has snow melting and spring starting up. For us, snow doesn't start melting until mid-April, making for a very frigid March after what is already a very cold Winter.

I feel unsure about voting in the poll because basically, my favorite month has turned into my least favorite. I used to be excited for December every year. My birthday is even that month!
But now I start dreading it... I don't like January either but I have started getting upset about December being ruined for me.
It used to be fine but due to the house falling apart, I have to deal with my room freezing and my parents being obsessed with having fires which makes my health worse.

I also don't like Spring months because I start getting tornado threats... Summer is too hot and I always worry about wildfires even if they're far away (the smoke can still reach!)
Fall is when the weather gets cold enough for my parents to start the fires that make me dread winter.

So, I don't like any time of year?
