reading these is so fun! there are so many different ways everyone makes their houses! here's what i have in my town:
Mayor's House (Aimee):
Main Room: a living room decorated with warm colors and modern wood furniture (customized in dismond patterns). includes a writing desk, a fireplace with cushions, and a TV. the music is "Wandering."
Left Room: a kitchen with lots of appliances and white ranch furniture, including a table with 4 plates of food. this room also has a fireplace. the music is "K.K. Hypno" (from the music box)
Back Room: an indoor garden with lots of plants, as well as a few pieces of bug-themed furniture. there is also a mountain, a small pond (the game calls it an "outdoor bath" but i feel like if i said that it'd be misleading) and some zen furniture. the music is "Steep Hill."
Right Room: music room! this is where i keep my collection of instruments. i have nearly every instrument in the game. (i don't have a pipe organ or ebony piano, i don't know if i'm missing anything else). i like trying to make little tunes when i have visitors. there's no music playing, but i still have a DJ's turntable in case i want to put on something to play to.
Upstairs: pompompurin bedroom!! there's not enough of this furniture to fill the room, so i've also included some cute little game stuff (a crane game, and the WiiU prize things) and a giant teddy bear. the music is on shuffle.
Basement: a walk-in closet, since i have too many clothes to fit in the dressers. i keep all four mannequins in here as well. there's no music playing.
Secret's House:
Main Room: an elegant room decorated with rococco furniture. there's a fireplace (i like those a lot.) not much else to it. the music is "K.K. Sonata."
Left Room: a toy room. the lights are off, and so are most of the toys. there are also a few villager pictures, and a teacup ride in the center. there's no music playing.
Back Room: a library. there are a few rows of tall bookshelves, parted to make a path to the editor's desk at the back of the room. there's no music playing.
Right Room: a simple tearoom. there's two tea tansus, some paper lanters, and a screen obscuring the mannequin serving a zen tea set. there's a zen cushion to sit in to face the mannequin. there's no music playing.
Upstairs: gorgeous bedroom. (i'm not being pretentious, i mean it uses the gorgeous furniture set.) there's a counter and a stool, with a letter set on top. there's also an ebony piano with a pink velvet stool to sit at while playing. there's no music playing.
Basement: an abandoned bedroom with the sloppy set. there's also some garbage lying around, like an old watermelon, an abandoned grocery bag, and scattered papers. the music is "Wandering."
Illusion's House:
Main Room: a cute room with pieces of kiki and lala furniture. the room isn't fully expanded yet, but when it is i'll have a carriage in there as well. there's no music playing. (i'm planning to put a music box in there, but i'm not sure what song yet. probably stale cupcakes, but maybe something more upbeat.)
Upstairs: hasn't been built yet but i'm going to make a shrine to k.k. slider. i love him so much.

Main Room: Living room/kitchen, kind of a mix since I like a more "organic" feel to rooms rather that strict "sets".
Second Floor: Bedroom, again more mixed furniture
Basement: Bathroom

Main Room: Sort of a laboratory (based off a Professors Pokemon Lab)
Room on Right: Green house/Sunroom like space
Room on Left: Large kitchen with small sitting area and dining area, mostly darker greens and brown for that cozy earthy look.
Second Floor: Bedroom with a small study, a little geeky with stacks of books, computer and the like.
Basement: Large library and study

Room in back: Reading room/workroom for an herbalist with oodles of books.

Basement: A kind of "shrine" to the pokemon Lugia that's inspired off of the Whirl Islands, outdoor baths, merlions for more water/sound, tall lanterns.

Room in back: Kitchen and dinging room, a little cutesy but functional.
Second floor: Bedroom. Pinks and blacks without going lovely set, teddy bears and cute stuff
Basement: A theater room/back-stage area to be used for "skits" with a dressing area, sound equipment and the like.
i do my rooms based on color more than anything else.
mayor mimi:
main: white, pink, and blue stuff. soft colored lights. white and pastels really.
left: gorgeous and card sets and red, black, and gold things
back: gracie set and some other green and blue items
right: halloween sets and jungle themed stuff, yellow orange brown and green
downstairs: garage with yellows and light browns and vehicles, plus some instruments
upstairs: baby's guest bedroom with blue and white stuff with some other stuff thrown in
baby:
main room: polka dot and creepy stuff (only one that's complete) red, white, and black
my house is still changing a lot, but i have all of my rooms down.
main room: somewhat like a cafe i guess? lots of browns and whites, kind of like a living room now that i think about it. also where my genie lamp is.
right wing: my aquarium room! there's an ichthyosaur fossil in the middle and the jellyfish lamp provides a nice blue gradient. probably my favorite to be honest, a lot of work went into it.
left wing: cult room
north wing: a bedroom, sorta? it has a yoshi egg, a tv, and other things i'd like to have. nice and cozy, has a tv and a wii u
upstairs: indoor beach. has lots of ocean stuff and little things. tons of plants as well!
basement: the human experimentation room (wip)
