What is going on with the prices for Raymond?

Okay I wanna discuss this and get to the ground of this. I know Raymond is by far the most desired villager right now. But what on earth is up with the prices? I saw a couple of auctions for other Tier 1 villagers, and they mostly settle between 50 and 350 NMT. Which is an achievable price. But Raymond just crushes this scale. I saw auction going as far as 2500 NMT!
How can someone even OWN that many NMT? And why won't he trade for normal prices like Marshal or Merengue?
And is this excessive bidding even allowed on this forum? Please discuss.

If I had a NMT for every thread about either how outrageous the price of Raymond was OR a thread asking how people get so many NMT I'd have enough NMT to buy Raymond LOL

its because he's new and in high demand with no amiibo. that's really the only reason for it.

In the end I suppose it's just the overwhelming demand and what people are willing to pay for them. I don't necessarily think the excessive bids should be moderated, if someone wants to pay a ****load for a certain character, good for them. It's the whole ebay nmt trading thing that doesn't sit well with me :/

Same deal as Relicum. I could care less what people pay for their villagers, I just wish eBay wasn't a part of the equation with the NMT overload. Back when NL came out, I feel like the craze for Marshal was high too. They're no way comparable because I don't think Marshal even came close to going for this amount of money? But he has no amiibo and the demand is high, that's really all it is.

he's cute, new, and smug - a recipe for high prices. happens every time. it is what it is, it ruins the fun of the game to worry about how other people are playing their game when i've got 10 awesome villagers that look forward to talking to me every day!

That's actually ridiculous. In barely willing to pay 10 NMT for a dream villager, let alone that much RLC.

People are still paying real money to get the 1000+ NMT tickets over eBay. I feel like the prices can’t really be moderated, but it harms the game economy. :’(

• His common fanmade gijinka floating around is a twink with a maid outfit on which sells like hotcakes in Twitter.
• Heterochromia.

That's all probable reasons I can think of as of why he's overly inflated.

Exactly. I threw all my bells and NMT (350m and 40NMT) for Raymond. Never regretted it. He's gay as I anticipated now he hangs out with Marshal which my twitter is now basically about them two.
