What happens when you trade your original villagers?

For example, Tangy was the third ever villager on my island and got the default peppy interior. I've given her a handful of outfits, a bug or two, and maybe one piece of furniture. Today she asked to move out. If I give her to someone else and she moves to their island, will she basically move in like a completely original villager, or will she retain some of the things I've given her?

She will keep most of the stuff that you gifted her. That's why a lot of people prefer ungifted villagers.

But because she'll have her actual interior instead of the default peppy one when she moves somewhere else will the things I've given her in the default house show up in the actual one?

Yes unfortunately some of her furniture might be replaced by things you gifted her or she'll display them in the "room markers" as you can see here (those empty boxes).
