I’m trying to come up with ideas myself but I’d love to see what everyone else is making so maybe I could improve mine :)

Mine looks similar. I chose to use only the darker dirt, then built a barbed wire fence around it. I put a scarecrow up and then planted some apple trees and autumn-colored flowers around. (Excuse the appalling quality).

I probably won't keep it very long, at least at this size. I might shrink it down to maybe 1/4 the size. Right now I'm beginning to worry more about what I'm going to do with my "farm" once the update drops. With all the new plants ( 🥔potatoes, 🍅tomatoes, 🍞wheat, 🍬sugar, 🥕carrots, etc). I haven't quite decided what I want to do, but I think smaller patches will work better for me; smaller but more variety. It might take longer to harvest, but I don't mind taking this game slow. I dont want my whole island to turn into a farm. 😅

It looks like this. As you can see, I already had this area but I changed the layout a bit to better accommodate some items and also to have better mobility (the entire focus of my island is that one should be able to walk without any problems all around the island; designs that look good but aren't functional simply defeat the purpose of design itself).

I may change one of two things because I honestly don't know how many different vegetables we're getting with the update, but this area should be enough to have all the crops + one or two hay beds (there's just one in the picture), a couple beehouses, a handcart, the scarecrow and maybe a hose and/or a wooden bucket.

I have a pretty big farm in both my islands.
Serenity farm before I brought my pumpkins over.

I don't have a picture handy, but my orchard is in the middle. I have all the non-native fruits there, 5 of each. Then, on each side of the orchard, I have 3x3 plots for crops (I'm a long-time Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons player haha). I already have one with orange pumpkins, then 5 more plots for the other crops we know are coming. I've heard rumors of possibly more crops, so I'll have to change it up if that's true. So currently, on each side of the orchard, there are 3 9-space plots.

A bunch of wilderness, weeds, trees and overgrown hybrids until the update comes out, haha. I'm slowly working on clearing the land for it all to work, but I'd like to know how many crops we're getting before I start min-maxing space allocations. I have a tiny pumpkin patch shoved in the midst of this chaos, but it'll all change once the update drops.

I don't know that I'll build one, beyond the pumpkins I already grow. TBH, cooking is not the most exciting feature to me due to the fact that food items aren't really my cup of tea in decorating. Pumpkins have value to me because they are used to make decor that isn't food.

We'll see.

I see your point. I wasn’t really looking for a farming game when I got ACNH either. There are some crops, like sugar, that thematically would fit my island, and I don’t see myself making every dish available and then storing it away in storage indefinitely.

I'm not very good at designing, but I think I might try long rows, alternating with flowers. So, like wheat, then cosmos, tomatoes, then pansies, or something like that. Just to break-up the sections a bit. Maybe with color-coordinating? Or as close as I can get ;u;

I mean, I like to make mine look busy. Also I just made a barn;

It looks small, but I have multiple little veggie patches scattered across the island in my villager's gardens to compensate. The big farm will be mostly Pumpkins and Wheat when the update drops, but I'll add some tomatoes here too.

I wish we knew exactly how many new crops we are getting— it would make planning easier. I just feel like more wasn’t shown during the direct. Also, I want lemon trees yesterday.

I haven't started working on my big farm yet since I'm not sure how many plots I'll need but I do have my small pumpkin farm still! My bigger farm will probably be closer to my house than this.

currently, it looks like this:

i'll be switching about half of the pumpkins out (keeping only one of each color, maybe two orange) for some of the new crops. i also have a flowerbed outside able's that i plan to repurpose for a "bigger" farm alongside it when the update drops. it's currently sitting as a graveyard since i used it for the forum's halloween event, but it's about this big:
day of the dead.jpg

when it was a flowerbed, the entrance was on the right, which i'll probably change it back to. i haven't decided if i'm going to visibly quarter it with a dirt path yet, since that would take away some of the room. i might just do four vertical rows (where the graves currently are), one for each of the new crops (well, four of them anyway.) or have no path at all, like in the pumpkin patch, and have seven rows of whatever instead. i'll probably decide when i find out how many different things there are to grow. between the two locations, i should be able to plant at least a bit of everything.

Here what my pumpkin patch looks like atm, I might change it to a full farm/ farmer's Market when the update drops.

Wondering how many different crops there will be since some eagle eyed fans spotted some things in the trailer that weren't outright stated in it.

I'm not gonna have just a single "farm" for all my crops. They're gonna be spread out in at least three different locations.

I'll replace two of the pumpkin patches here with carrots and potatoes.

Megan's about to be moving in, and her yard will also serve as a tomato garden. There's more work to be done here. Too many flowers and mismatched furniture. For instance, the colorful bench and gumball machine are leftover from when this used to be Hopkins' yard and obviously don't mesh well anymore. But I'm waiting on 2.0 to see what all new goodies I'll have to work with before figuring out how to revitalize this area.

And finally this little area will be expanded on somehow to include the wheat and sugarcane.
