What does everyone do when they 99% completed the game?

I'm not even done with my town yet but the only reason is because i don't wanna be done yet and get bored xD

Or all the ones possible when you don't have any access to wireless internet. Let me tell you, the turnip badge and saving badge are seriously hard without visiting other towns or trading items.

I talk to everyone so I can keep the villagers I love and try to persuade the ones I don't want to leave. LOL. I also participate in events and holidays, even if it's only for a few minutes. It's a little boring when the house is complete, there's nothing I want to buy in the stores anymore and landscaping is complete. It's a good time to focus on a second town if you have one!

im still far from completing my town but i guess ill just be emotional after i finished the whole town. like it has been a wonderful journey with all my villagers. ill close my game and cry on my couch and then go back to the game and talk to my villagers especially queen FLURRY! anyway, one thing for sure ill do is to go play my second town which i dont have time to play because of my main town.
When you are at that stage of the game you can just relax and build your relationship with your villagers. To truly be at 99%, you should have all of your dream villagers. Just relax and have fun with them in your beautifully designed town you've done, but if you want a goal, you can strive to get their pictures by getting the maximum friendship status for each of your villagers.

I doubt that it'll ever happen, since I'm very slow and play on and off, but I'd probably start another town!

Once I have all the badges, a completed catalogue and maxed bank on all four characters I'll probably just dither about on Club Tortimer or try to improve the town's look.

Or just have a 4 billion Bell giveaway to try and earn it all again before realising how many hours it would take to trade that much.

Change rooms around, experiment with furniture refurbishing, get the museum rooms to make new areas (I made an apothecary, a proper doctors office, a tea room and a room for all the gold items in mine.)
You could start collecting certain types of items like gyroids or balloons? One thing I'm trying to figure out is if I should do anything with my beach.
So there's plenty to do.

Usually I make alot of money from selling any valuable villagers and use it to make people hold some of my items. Then I just start over with a brand new vision for my town!
I'm still working on various badges. After that "completion" I might think of new pattern designs. I always enjoy designing new cloths and art, but I always end up doing other random things (like fishing for badge progression) over that.

Do you have extra players living in your town with all the badges?
Once the mayor was close to finishing I started letting the extra players play as real players.
Two takes turn playing, talking to the villagers and working on their badges. Found it was fun not having the mayor stress.
Once all 3 players have the badges I still be at 99%. I'm missing the blue argyle tank that they never released.
Adding another town to decorate helps.
