Apparently they have different birthdays from what I've heard. Not gonna change my opinion of their striking resemblance though! I think they're the same, or at least really weird twins.

I'm convinced that Champ is Porter's brother and the guy that drives the train- even Porter's e-card seems to support this theory

I'm guessing they added Champ as a reference to the old train station after they removed it from the game, but when New Leaf brought the train station back, the reference wasn't really needed anymore, so they gave Champ his old job as train driver back ^^;

Maybe champ is the one driving the train
And they are twin so when there was no train
Champ lived as a villager while porter doing something else
And when train got back
Champ got his train back and his brother porter was the one to greet the person
Because champ and porter have different birthday
So maybe brothers that look so alike.... twin??
