My gosh, today I played a bit of ACNL with my boyfriend before he went off to school? And it was really really fun! I was afraid it'd be boring, but we found things to do? I hope he enjoyed it as much as I did, haha.
I'd played with people before, but it was sorta awkward and I never found the right things to say. I usually liked to play on my own. But today, I have to say I really enjoyed it and it made me smile quite a bit.
What do you all think? Do you enjoy playing ACNL with others? (I believe Tortimer Island would count?) Or do you prefer to play on your own, or with specific people?
Multiplayer can be uncomfortable at times.
If I visit someone else I usually just wander their town and knowing someone else is there is enough for me. Similarly, if someone visits me, I'll just go about my business until they come up with something. I find that the game is geared toward more casual fun in the sense you don't have to be doing something to enjoy each others company. The best parallel I can think of it just treat them like another villager haha.
But sometimes people are unsure about what they're doing or they just kinda follow you around and it gets weird. I suppose multiplayer is hit or miss.
Unless you're on the island and all you can really do is the tours. I really enjoy multiplayer tours ~
I like to play with other people I think if it is someone you send PMs back and forth with and get to know a bit have a bit more communication I so miss the Wii City Folk microphone you could play and just talk and they would hear you I heard ru,it's mic was coming back next game switch but we know how ru ours go..but I like Island touring with TBT people I trust that more than random Islanding ever. I'm actually on now some of you may already be my friends from the train station so if ever see me active PM me. In general is fun, I found when I played with my ex we would actually seperate rooms from each other while playing and it was funnier with tours to be on the sunporch while he was in the room lol.
I used to like net glitching with friends when they would visit my town. I thought it was fun to try to stand on people's houses. The update disappointed me by fixing this and I stopped playing for months. I'm not sure what to do if people visit now except maybe the island mini games.
I did when I first ever got the game, I think everyone enjoyed playing multiplayer at the beginning. But as of lately I truly enjoy just playing by myself. I dont have an irl friends who ac (or at least play as much as I do lol) so yeah, otherwise I'm good playing on my own. Im an introvert and its a big part of my alone time c:
I feel like it could go either way. I think it could be better to play with someone who is physically close to you that way there can be better communication than the small keyboard thing.
What I have seen before that I really like are those that make up their own games within their towns vs only having fun in the island. I wouldn't mind having people over in my town, I just worry it will get bored fast and because of that awkward.
I always read about town rules and that stuff, because of unwanthed thieves in their towns. I can understand it, but I personally never had such an accident or something. That's because I just trade with people I trust. But I have almost nothing in my town, I would miss.
I'm Swiss and I'm also in a german AC-forums, it's much smaller, it has hardly 800 members, but it's fun! I also play with my siblings and sometimes I'm fishing with my boyfriend. Luckily she also thinks it's a lot of fun! But also showing other people our houses, towns and villagers, do some funny minigames or going to the island, for me it's a lot of fun!
The only time I like multiplayer is if I am in a call with or right next to the people I am playing with. It's also best when I know the people, I'm not very good when it comes to playing with anyone I don't know
I've played with some friends without either of these back when I played city folk a lot and when the game came out but its difficult to communicate sometimes with the chat interface in-game. :c
I'm a pretty talkative person and it's no fun when having a conversation requires me stopping doing whatever activity I'm doing or gives away my hiding place in hide-and-seek!
i've only done it a few times to be honest, and it was with friends i made on a different site, lol
i'd like to know them a little well beforehand and i know that i can trust them, but tbh otherwise it can be pretty fun to just chat with someone or go to the island and play mini-games
sometimes the lack of a fast way to talk can be a struggle with the small keyboard and all, but i find that using like a messaging system or something like twitter for fast replies if you're just doing something like playing games while still wanting to talk works out pretty well
It's really fun, but kind of annoying when one person doesn't want to do what others want. For example, once I was with my online friends in a kik group. Another person joined, and we sorta let him into our "circle." We then decided to play online, and eventually, we wanted to go onto the island (since it's more fun with other people), and he just didn't want to. :/ He would always do this during group play, and so we would have to cancel the trip just because he didn't want to join. It should have been seperate.

I usually play it by myself, but I did used to play with my mom when she had her 3DS (still has the game but she rarely played it anyways so I'm the one that has to keep it up-to-date in her place). I only played with another person ONCE, and that was to get my Funky Wig way back when. I'm usually pretty awkward with playing with others, it can get pretty uncomfortable at times. But I still try to give good compliments on the person's town when I visit.
