Do you feel that you were able to become attached to them as easily as in NL?
What do you think about villagers in NH compared to NL?

it's weird because i'm less attached to villagers i used to like and more attached to ones i never thought i would like
i used to love axel and colton but now they seem kinda boring
and i never really liked stitches or katt, now i love both of them so much ♡♡

i really, really like how expressive the nh villagers are compared to the nl ones, but, as of right now, i kinda prefer the nl ones more!
about a week into the game i started hearing recycled dialogue. now, almost two months in, i'm pretty sure i've heard most of it by now. "i'm just out enjoying the cool breezes of azalea!" "i live for that first sip!" things like this. imo it kind of makes the villagers super boring, and i don't seem them as neighbors as much as npcs. i played nl since i was a little boy, and i still don't think i've heard a good majority of the dialogue in that game.
the nh villagers are also super cookie cutter!! they don't mix up what they say, and, when they do, it's 100% about what type of villager they are. for example, when you have a jock villager, you know they're a jock villager because all they talk about is muscles and workouts. it's fine, but they do it SO much. lazy villagers all sound the same, too, constantly talking about snacks and stuff.

Pretty much everything azaleastouch said, but also I have a hard time getting attached to the NH villagers due to how they dislike interaction! You talk to them one time, and they've already had enough, while it was about 10 times in NL. This is the reason why I want a lot of snooties and peppys in my town, they're less cold! I was definitely more attached in NL, the dialogue was more varied and they were more interactive with the MC in general. Now they interact with their surroundings but not so much with your character...
All the little activities they do and interests they have makes them instantly better than they were in NL in my opinion. In NL they walked around aimlessly, maybe held a tool, watered a flower and fished for a bit. Great.
This time though, they run around, they read, they sit down, they follow bugs, they try to catch bugs, they fish, they wear different outfits, they carry items around like shopping bags or sticks, they work out or do yoga, they sing... miles ahead of anything they did in NL. Their personalities really shine through their behavior. Finding a snooty examining a flower with their encyclopedia or a lazy sitting under a tree is just... chef's kiss.

I love how they do little misc things while walking around the island.
However, the only thing that really irks me about them is the fact they talk about visitors WAY too often. I get it. Someone stepped 3 feet into my island to do a trade. You don't need to tell me 50 times.

this!! i feel so bad talking to agnes, one of my favorites, because she always says, "how much are we going to run into each other today?"
i could talk to her at 6:00, and again at 22:00, and she'd still act as if i wouldn't leave her alone all day.
I think they have a lot more personality than they did in acnl, I catch them having conversations so often and I love seeing them do more than just wandering around! The only complaint I have is the fact that if there's something happening, they talk constantly about it. Still traumatized by endless egg conversations during the egg day event lol
Also talking constantly about visitors omg... I trade a lot and like 50% of their conversations with me are about so and so visiting, even when the visitor never talked to them!!

Imo I preferred NH villagers than NL. I just like how they actually do things other than aimlessly wander around. I also think the dialogue is much better than NL because I remember just not talking to my villagers a lot in NL due to how bland it was.
I also like how snarky some of the villagers have gotten because NL was just waaaaay to sugary for me. I feel like it adds a bit more character to add some sarcasm but hey, that’s just me.
I think dialogue for NH could be improved though. I just hope the updates add more dialogue because it does get repetitive at times. I will admit that NL handles jocks a bit better than NH though because the jocks in this game are....really really predictable and two-dimensional imo because they always constantly talk about their muscles or workout.

I prefer NH villagers miles over NL. NL villagers were awful, had terrible dialogue and were basically robots just walking around asking you to catch fish/bugs or do errands for them every 5 sec.
NH feel way more alive than NL and the dialogue is top notch. It’s funny and new, and it reminds me lots of GCN. I’m 220 hours in and I still get new dialogue from my favorite villagers whom I talk daily.
I’m super close to them, unlike NL.

NH villagers have more character and more life into them. I also love the dialogue way more honestly. I actually laugh and I get really into of what they say.

I kind of thought so too! Personally I liked their dialogues more in NL but in NH they've become a lot more expressive in their gestures. And I love it when they sing too

I do wish that they had expanded on the subtypes of the personality pots, however, because that would have really added some needed depth and variety. I had to let go Sherb because he and Beau were saying basically the same thing and with Beau being one of my favorite villagers of all time, I wanted to enjoy what he had to say instead of reading it for the second time. It made it feel much less personal.

I think repetition is just an issue across contemporary Animal Crossing as a whole to be honest. That being said, I do think villagers are better in NH than they are in NL. I like how they do more than just aimlessly meander around and ask for favors. And it might just be my luck but I have a grand total of 3 smugs and they don't feel terribly same-y. Raymond is a big sweet dork, Zell gives me huge fashionista vibes and really likes to talk to me about clothes, Colton borders on Snooty with how often he gossips, it's a lot of fun.

I do think it would be nice if villager personalities even had sub types, but maybe in the future? There are still flaws but I think it's an improvement overall.

I slightly prefer the older peppy and lazy types, due to the constant mention of talking to the bugs, or "Maglevs in Love" and such.
I'm not personally seeing the variation in villagers that others are seeing. They do other stuff besides talk to you NH, but as far as I've seen, all of the villagers do the same things which makes none of them stand out from each other. I also dislike how often they talk about me watering flowers, hitting rocks, chopping wood, etc. I know I did all of those things, what did you do yesterday? I wish they would actually flesh out the individuality of each villager so even if you hate a villager's looks, they still have unique traits that you can't replace when they move out. The dialogue in NL was also bad, so there wasn't much room to go lower, but you'd think it would be better in 2020.

I'm growing more attached to them than NL. I think it's because of the varied behavior that makes them feel more real. I like how they wander pretty much the whole island too. In NL they seemed to stay within a certain radius of their house mostly.
