Share your thoughts about the new 2DS here! My opinion is I don't really like it because when you drop it it's ike gonna bust automaticlly because you can't close it.

I don't like it much. It's too big to fit in a pocket, and it will be totally busted up if you drop it because there's no protection for any of it.

What exactly is the point of it? I'm honestly having trouble seeing the point of it.

I don't really see a point to it either, aside from the fact it is cheaper.

Why use it when you have a 3DS? Unless you hate 3D then the 2DS is perfect for you (My mom hates 3D so yeah you know)

I have a 2DS since my 3DS is out of save data blocks, and it's nice to be able to play two different games at the same time. I didn't like the idea at first, but after I got one a couple months ago I like it. :)

I wouldn't use one. That's all I'm going to say. It's fine not to like something, but don't say bad things about it. There are people who can't afford things such as the 3DS so they have another option thanks to the 2DS. It is not their fault if they don't make a huge amount of cash to spend on video game systems! It is definitely not okay to look down on the people that own one. The 3DS and the 2DS both function the same way. The 2DS just has a lack of hinges to make it more suitable for children. Nintendo is smart for making the 2DS because not only is it great for the younger fans but also for the people who are low on funds.

It's a cheaper version. I imagine Nintendo saw not many people bought the 3DS cause it was expensive, so this was probably their attempt to cut the price. Of course many more people play 3DS games now because of it, so it has worked in a way.

I guess It's okay if you can't afford a 3DS..
Unless they're the same price, I'm not sure.

I like it. If I hadn't bought a 3DS in the past I'd have probably gotten one of these.

Why?

1. It's cheaper.
2. It doesn't have that stupid and worthless 3D feature. I don't even use the 3D on my 3DS, meaning that I paid too much which was mainly because of a feature I don't even use.
3. I don't see why it not being able to fold up is a problem? I don't take my 3DS anywhere because I'm too scared it will break. (Because it's so dang expensive I couldn't replace it if I did!) So it doesn't matter if it's not portable or can fit in my pocket. The design also makes it less breakable for children because they'd be laying/sitting down and playing it. They also can't snap the 2DS in half by horsing around with it. My cousins sons broke their 3DS this way and she was very unhappy.

What's the point of it you ask? Why, just look up there because I just told you three big points that make it a worthwhile purchase for people who haven't bought a 3DS yet! Basically it just sounds like you guys are going "Well this is stupid why waste time making something like this?". You're not the target audience. You probably already have a 3DS so they figure you're not going to buy it anyways. So chill. It's not a stupid idea. They're just not trying to sell it to you in particular.

At first I wasn't a huge fan of it, but then I thought, why not?

The 2DS is kind of like carrying a giant Gameboy, and I think that it's more sturdier than a 3DS (the 3DS and its folding mechanic)
And after looking it up, it has a sleeping switch; which I kind of like.
I think that it's a viable option and reaches its objective - targeting a demographic who aren't willing to spend about $150 on a handheld.
The 3D option isn't that important to many gamers anyways; more of a gimmick. (At least its not the Virtual Boy)

In general, the only complaints I have is that it can't fit in any pocket, and after playing the XL, the screen's too small. :P

I think it's pretty neat.

The main reason it was created I believe was to make a version for people who can't process 3D and by axing the 3D feature makes it more affordable for those people.

I totally agree. I think the "the screen will scratch and there is no protection" argument is so lame, since those people probably had Gameboys and the like and those never got scratched up (well mine didn't.) I don't have a 2DS but I think they're great!

I sold my yellow Pikachu limited edition 3DS XL at a profit on Amazon (paid 200$ for it and sold it 350$ after playing the hell out it for 7 months). I then had the choice of buying a new 3DS XL or a 2DS. The decision came very quickly : I chose the 2DS because I never really used the 3D function on the 3DS. I don't regret it. The only downside is that the 2DS has the screen size of the original 3DS which is quite small... Oh well... At least the build is sturdier and sure looks better than the 3DS and the 3DS XL...

As the scratched screen argument goes, I don't see it. When I don't use it, the screen is not against the surface of my desk, but facing the ceiling. When I carry it around, I put it in the cool blue NINTENDO pouch that I bought to go with it.

Some people don't have those cases. If you have it, congrats. If you don't, well, you have to be really careful.

I personally would not get one even if I didn't already have a 3DS, and initially I did think it was a joke or something, but I do kind of see the point of it now.

As mentioned, the non-clamshell design is probably better for children, because the hinge part on regular DSes is breakable. And, of course, it's cheaper. 3D is nice, but not absolutely essential to play the games so I guess it's a nice alternative for some.

It's actually pretty good and I don't think it gets enough credit for what it is.
I remember when it was first announced and all the **** it got like seriously?

I don't have one nor have I used one, but I have considered getting one 'cause it is kinda cute and decent but I have no need for one.
