What do you think about duping getting patched in the "Welcome Amiibo!" update?

I don't really care, honestly. There are some limited time unorderable DLC that haven't been added to RVs, duping at least increases the supply of these items for the people that missed them. I don't know how to do it myself, but dupers have helped me get some items I never would have been able to obtain otherwise.

It doesn't really matter. There's Powersaves and save editing now, so people can still cheat (idk if duping is considered cheating tho) to get items.

oh god I hope I haven't bought duped items, I hate the people that sell duped items without the buyers knowledge!! its honestly a shame it wasn't really patched! I dont care if people dupe but forcing it on others is a crime to me!!

I've never duped so since this doesn't effect me I'm not really bothered by it. One of the main things about duping that I hated was then I would always meet people on CT who would always brag about duping.

If you have the 7-11 set, and rare complete sets like the bobble heads, birthday, weeding day, etc, and you got them on the trade boards, they were more than likely duped at one time. I've bought and traded for tons of unorderables in the past 3 years, and I'm sure most of them were duped. Some sellers probably bought the duped items and sold them and were unaware that they had been duped.

good thing I never got those sets then :p

I don't really care, but I mean don't ppl just straight up hack the game these days does it really matter if it was patched? Idk about now but before the update someone cloned my entire dream town, including my mayor and all my characters which I thought was creepy af it'd be nice if that kind of stuff was also patched lol

Never thought duping items harmed anyone anyways and let's be real, without duping like 90% of those region exclusives (looking at you basically all krn/jpn exclusives) wouldn't even be accessible to most of us.

nammie, sorry to hear you had your dream town copied: I have a notion, no hard evidence, that Nintendo was told about this when it happened to some players and patched it - I say this as there was a system update (Can't remember, poss one of the 9's) which you had to do if you wanted to use the dream suite (& it probably included all the other online things such as CT islands).
I picked it up as I wasn't able to dream without doing this particular system update and it came out exactly the same time as when the dream town stealing had been reported and had had several victims.
I'm guessing, but not seen reports of the problem since then. I know players will say, acnl updates do not come with the system update, it may have been a rushed through patch. Nintendo never says.

Not entirely correct.....while I agree with the 7-11 set, the bobble heads are actually very easy to get without duping, you just need to time travel. Jump to 1/1 of each available year in the game and talk to Isabelle. While time consuming it is still possible. The same is true with the weeding set. I would assume the same is true for the birthday set, but I have not tried that one myself.

I guess my point is not to assume that just because someone has something that is hard to get that it is a duped item. There are still the old fashioned ways of getting dups (multiple copies of the game/ds/etc.), but I do agree that now days there are much easier ways to get them (i.e. duping) than in the past.
