While making my shop for TBT: Re-Tail, I was wondering what type of things attract people to shop/selling posts on any animal crossing website. I know, personally, sometimes I will only glance at a selling/shop post, but others I can take a longer time to look at. Do you think appearance influences your willingness to reply?

For example, do you like shops with set prices? large selection? unique shop features? small-focused selection? stock versus ordering?

I was also curious as to what you think is the most in demand type of items for the game; clothes, furniture, unorderables, art, etc.

I really want to make a great shop for other members, but I think it could be better with some feedback as to what type of things people like to buy and what influences them to purchase things from other players. Has anyone ever had a bad trade experience from selling/shop posts?

Also, sorry if this is in the wrong place. v.v I couldn't figure out where it should go . . . .

I like items to be in stock for sale immediately. The longer a trade takes , the higher probability of it never occurring. I also like fixed prices. It takes a lot of time to figure out if you and the seller are in the same ballpark.

Knowing the stock seems to help, whether it's coming from a catalog or not. I have a name-your-price store, and I give ranges to show what I am willing to accept.

Also, the more elaborate a shop is, the more likely I'll buy.

I like a shop with a big selection
A catalogue on MoriDB is great since I'm usually looking for something specific and hard to get, like chess pieces or specific clothing

i like shops that aren't too over the top. that said, i kind of dislike reading through distinct fonts with distinct colors. i just like a simple shop with reasonable prices. :)

Personally, I really love users who add some color to their posts. Black and white tends to leave my attention faster. However, I've seen shops with poorly sized pictures jammed in as headers and that can drive me a bit nuts sometimes, but I think a nice balance of text and imagery is good.

I also seem to be attracted to people who can provide items I'm seeking even if they are order type shops. I think I waited 2 weeks once for an order, but I know what you guys mean about the waiting lowering the chances of wanting that order anymore. Heck, I've placed orders in a shop and never heard a peep back even after PM. vwv

I don't like seeing too many colours on a shop post ~ when I use colours in posts, it's to make something stand out in particular. Not to make it look pretty really :/

Edit: I like things simple

I don't know, I personally like it when shops are well organized, it makes it easier to navigate the shop and also makes the seller seem more committed to their shop.

I also like it when there are set prices. A while ago I went into a shop to a buy a particular DLC, the seller sold the item to one player for 100k, when I offered to pay the same he bumped up the price to 300k It was no big deal since I am pretty loaded in game, but it was just sort of confusing to watch the seller bump the price each time he sold a different copy of the same item.

I usually make my posts and put a smiley face in my title.
I then sell items in stock. There are times where my friends asked me for DLCs. That's my private trade and I would make my best friends wait for Pete to deliver cuz I usually give away my DLCs to random people when I visit their towns.
If I am expecting a fast sale. I would keep the post simple. I list the items on sale and delete the items once a player has bought them. I like to keep all my trades fast. So when I have a thread running, I'm usually there lurking.

I actually see others do this all the time and it always just seems unfair. I always try to sell things at the same price to everyone even if it's in a post outside my own thread. I've seen people offer millions for items I sell for less and will generally PM them about it if I have time to help them with their wishlist, but I always just use the same shop price I provide to everyone else.

Also, I really love color, sorry if it bugs anyone. I don't really plan to change my preferences, but I'm not offended if people block me for that. ^^

I like shops that are neatly organized (e.g. A-Z order or maybe sorted into types). If the color is too bright and overused, it tends to immediately throw me off and I usually leave straight away.
I also like it if they decorate it a little bit with small pixels but not too much.
Huge chunk of text kind keeps me away too so if you at least put your text into paragraphs, I'm fine with that.

I'm more of a simple & plain girl rather than fancy schmancy.

There is nothing wrong with color. Some people might dislike it, but I don't personally think that anyone would be offended by it. In fact, I think that it can be cute depending on which colors are used, but even if someone used colors that I disliked I'd still buy from their shop if they had items that I wanted.

At the end of the day it's your shop though, you're the one with the rare items and the one that will spend the most time on that thread. So the best thing to do is to create something that makes you comfortable :3

Heh. I guess I must put some colors in my text to grab your attention when ordering in your shop next time xD

1)I like shop with large selection of choice and of cause put in spoiler =x (not sure why but feel much organized this way)

2) best is price included. I don't like giving offer to them and they increase price to my offering x.x eg: I offer 50k and they want 100k.

3) I don't mind waiting for orders take some times but I would prefer the seller to pm me when the stock is ready rather than ignore me and force me to go back and check their "stock ready to pickup" list or just totally ignore my order after a long time x.x

If talk about bad trade, I don't really have any real bad one, just when I am buying from someone who is new to this forum, or with low wifi, maybe sometimes when I am a little out of their view (going ABD or walk off a little because they run too fast into their town), sometimes the wifi go off and I got a little paranoid, did I do anything wrong that cause them to think I am trying to steal and flick the switch? lols but usually it doesn't end up that way just I am thinking a little too much =x

I prefer trading one stuff to another, so I look for the shops that allow you to trade items for something else. I also look out the trade locations(I'd prefer it on the host's town since my internet sucks at hosting).
I also prefer it on stock since I'd like to trade ASAP.

Appearance-wise, I'd prefer it at least organized and not too colorful. Appearance doesn't really affect me; if they got the goods, I'd trade with them.

If your laggy in a hosts town, does that mean it's their internet not yours? I always thought my internet was horrid when I go to other peoples town sometimes. XD

I think it's their internet. It happened to me yesterday and then their town crashed

Pfft- whaaaat? I been apologizing like crazy thinking it was my internet. Those sneaky sneaky people.

For me it's a must for the seller to contact the buyer no matter whether they accept or ignore their offer, it's really confusing to be waiting around to see if your offer is accepted just to see that the seller completely ignored it since the pricing is too low or something else that's easy to fix.
It's nice if the seller shows what's in stock and posts to the thread when new stuff is added to the main post.
Set prices are also nice since they speed up the process :l
Also for the love of god. Make it simple. Reading pastel colors is incredibly annoying, to me atleast. Besides to make a good shop you don't have to fill it with graphics. The items and prices are what matters.
I like it when shops sell normal sets, not just DLC and other hard to get stuff. Also being able to order separate items from sets is really nice.

1) TIME. A huge factor. I understand people are busy with trades and all that jazz; however... if you're having to wait 48hrs + for an item, it's kind of much. Especially if you've been contacting the seller asking when they are free and never hearing back. Or you hear back and it's "I have time later" and they never VM/PM you back. It gets to the point where I think they hate hearing from their buyer xD and ofc, the buyer feels like they keep bothering~
2) A splash of colour never hurts (unless it's neons....). I'm just like you -- if a shop post is in all black, it doesn't really hold my attention as much as one in colour would. Of course, if it were over-the-top obnoxious rainbow in your face, I would deter from it pretty quickly.
3) Same and set prices? I don't really mind having to offer o3o
4) Wide variety (but not the whole catalog, lol): Adding something unique that makes your shop distinctive from the rest is also something that makes me remember a shop.

I really like when a post is really well organized; not too crowded and everything in categories. Fixed prices are really nice because I am terrible at offering! Items in stock is also preferred because I am an instant gratification type person!
