Hey, y?all! I was switching out my neighbors in both my towns and was curious about something?what do you look for in a neighbor?

I made a poll for those that didn?t want to comment in the thread. These options are just the ones I deemed most important. My personal choice is their house exterior. I want everything to flow within my town, haha.

~
Update: just realized I accidentally posted this thread twice. (Probably should not be using my phone to create posts.. lol)

No matter how much I like the look of a villager, if their house exterior sucks, I won't move them in.

Like Kyle.
He looks fantastic, but his house exterior is horrid! :(

I like having villagers that are cute and visually appealing in my town, but when I first started out I didn't mind them at all. looking nice is basically a bonus. they're all precious sweethearts!

however I don't really like the jock personality so my town is devoid of them. I tried, but they are just not my cup of tea. I like every other personality, haha

their exterior/interior doesn't matter to me. I have Vladimir whose interior is pretty hard to work with but I love him anyway.

I'd have to agree on disliking the Jock-types. Everything about them just doesn't go with either of my towns.

I get you! I honestly like some of the "ugly" neighbors that others don't want simply because their exteriors are super cozy-looking. :p

It's partly why I have Teddy.

I don't like Jocks.
Sport has never interested me, (except motor racing!) and they constantly ask me stupid sport related questions - BUT Teddy has an awesome house exterior, and he looks good. ^_^

Teddy reminds me of Brock from Pokemon, hahaha. He's kind of charming in his own way. I just looked up Teddy's house exterior: oh my goodness, I love it!

I was thinking of making a run down neighborhood in my town and it would have looked great there. Otherwise it's just an eyesore.

Honestly, a little bit of everything in the poll counts for me. It's the main reason why I always have Skye, Vivian or Chief as my neighbour in game. In my current town of Ecruteak, my neighbour is Skye, and Vivian lives beside her. I'd put Chief beside Vivian, but sadly a pesky rock has denied said idea.

It reminds me of Rasher's tin dump.

I liked Rasher. He was my NL starter, but he had to go.
The house exterior was horrid.

Look and nostalgia factor. And uniqueness, in some cases: if their model is somehow different than the rest of their species, that's always a welcome little novelty.

Ooh, sounds interesting. Yeah, Kyle’s house is kinda “meh.” I think it would also fit into an obscure-type forest village. One of my favorite Dream Addresses has a kind of fishing, forest theme, so it would fit in there.

Darn those pesky rocks >:|. I consider everything as well, but if I could only choose one then I at least want the outside of my town lookin’ nice, haha. Strangely enough, I think the wolf neighbors are the coolest one—but I don’t have any in my towns. xD

Ooh, nostalgia. I didn’t consider that. I had Wolfgang in my town Nugget, but I took a break for too long and he moved. I always remember me and my siblings agreeing we had to keep Wolfgang when we played the original Animal Crossing on GameCube.

Haha, yeah. If you look at my signature, it's pretty obvious which villager species are my favourite (Wolf, Cat and Bird). Generally I always have at least four wolves, though. Pretty lucky that Skye is my favourite villager and she's a Normal personality. I surprisingly don't like many of their designs outside of Skye herself and Celia (who happens to be a Bird/Eagle).

I just wish wolves had more varied personalities. Hoping the next game adds more to them. I'd honestly have picked Dobie over Punchy, but they changed his personality to Cranky for some reason..

Wild, domestic, and flighted. Nice combinations, haha. I haven’t paid too much attention to the personalities beside Uchi. Most of the villagers seem more similar than different, lol.

To be fair, Dobie looks like a cranky, old man. ( ˊ̱˂˃ˋ̱ )

I ditto how you feel, but for me, it's the sheep. Mostly female, mostly snooty or uchi. Very predictable personalities. I wouldn't mind having one of each personality as I dream of having a sheep-only town. Alas, it is not meant to be.

Like I said.. it seems they’re more similar than different. Haha. Glad I’m not the only one who notices this.

I'd hate to see a Jock wolf.

A lazy wolf.. not overly keen, but it might be ok, since Dobie was originally lazy, even though it doesn't go with his looks.

Peppy, I can definately say no to that.

In WW, I knew someone who hacked their Wolfgang and made him peppy.

I still have nightmares.

I never look at house exterior when looking for villagers, because I know I can't change that. Besides I like the different house exteriors, no matter how it don't work for my towns.
For each town of mine, I note down each personality and look for a villager for each personality type for my town, this allowed me to have two more villagers of my choice. Then when I look for a villager for each personality I look at them and see which I might like, but if there are several i like I will try and bring them all in and see who i like best from having them in my town for a bit.
To be honest I don't mind as long as its not the villagers I hate: Opal, Kevin probs more but those are the ones I dont like for sure.

I look for looks and personality. I also like a nice interior, sometimes I actually boot out villagers that have nasty interiors ^^; I also look a bit at species, i prefer deer, rabbits, cats, and squirrels.

i used to try to keep a personality balance in my town, but i kinda gave up with that and now all my villagers are based on aesthetic ahaha
