What do We Know about Bamboo?

Hi everyone! I got my first bamboo seed donated to me by a new international friend last night. It has already sprouted up, but I don't know the grow time (to maturity) for bamboo. Also, is it true that it will grow more bamboo stalks on its own, or do I have to dig up the seeds it spreads and plant them myself? I tried to leave as much room around the main plant for this purpose, but unfortunately, my town is already inundated with trees and not an axe to be seen! Can somebody help teach me the way of the bamboo? lol

im fairly certain you can though you have to pay to tear them down and I think it takes all day
