I just started a new town and this time I made all 4 players right off to get the fortune teller shop faster(I didn't do this in my original town and it to for freakin ever to get that shop). The only things I know that the other characters are useful for is to get that shop and for more chances to get the lucky hats.
Are they useful for anything else? I ask because once I get Katrinas shop and the hats I plan on deleting the characters if they have no other use. Thanks
I use my extra characters for more pattern spaces, extra storage for furniture and stuff, and more opportunities for decorating interiors! And exteriors...
i like them because you can make their houses into anything- my mayor's house is an art studio / school, and my second character's house is an onsen. i'm planning to have a 3rd character, whose house is a magic school. it's just really nice bc having extra characters not only gives me more patterns and more (MUCH more) storage space, i feel like they add more to the town as a whole because it makes my town less (how to put it) culturally bankrupt
i say, if you like their house placements, try to think of things you can make their houses into that make your town more fun!
I mainly use my other characters for storage space and for patterns, since my paths consist of 16 different pattern slots... and I might add some more ground decorations...
I have a second and third...I mainly just decorate their houses and also use their pattern space. I do love having more than one house to decorate though!
I like to use them for more storage, pattern spaces, and decorating! It would be a waste of potential to JUST have a pattern mule or JUST have a storage mule. And sometimes plot resetting. But I usually just log them on to clear out their mailboxes.
I use my secondary characters for:
Storage - one has furniture, the other has plants
To unlock Katrina's shop quicker - done
To be able to order more RV stuff
I never have made any other characters on my game(I even prordered it so its been that long!)
I dont think I ever will. I just like my main person & I have yet to unlock Katrina in all the years Ive played so that doesnt really effect me so much!
I know at least one is going to be for my sibling- that is, if they can ever get me away from the game! I think after I've gotten my town to how I want it, I'm going to make another character and have them just live. Animal Crossing new leaf gives you the power to do anything, so why not make a new character purely to be another villager in the town!
I have never created a character purely for storage space.. I don't even think I've filled up my mayor's storage yet. My 2nd character, Eggs, runs the town's cafe, bar, thrift shop, grocery store, and gardening shop. My 3rd character Mei runs a bed and breakfast (an excuse to furnish more bedrooms ) and my last character, Charlie, runs a campsite lodge and mini mart. I'll probably also add a library and mini fossil and gyroid museum in the left and right rooms, but i'm enjoying his cozy digs at the moment. He's the only resident I designed after an actual character, Charlie Kelly from it's always sunny in philly. I plan on making his room upstairs into something similar to his messy apartment in the show.
I'm about to add my second and third characters in Elenrast. I am creating them for: the fun of decorating and adding to the theme of my town; because I am eventually going to have a dream town and I want it to be as fun, interesting and beautiful as possible for those who visit.
I think everyone uses extra characters for extra patterns... but I think my favorite thing to do is make their houses into shops. I can't wait till the day I get enough bells to expand my extra house and make it a restaurant!
i've had my town for three years now, but i just recently made side-characters. my mayor is me, jackie, and i use him to express myself (i dress him in what i would wear, i decorate his house as if it were my own) but my side characters (john and pluto) are like..idk...my alter egos? i use those characters to express different facets of my personality/style. john's house has an art classroom, a little art exhibit/museum, an arcade, ect. and i just made pluto yesterday so i get to build a whole new persona, its really fun and adds new dimensions to the game. plus, sometimes villagers will say special things to your side characters.
extra storage for items and patterns is just a bonus. the main reason i have extra characters is to add to the story of my town and to build different personas.
I use my secondary characters for interior decorating. I'm on my third copy of ACNL and at first was only planning to have one character in this town to make things easier on myself, but there is way to much awesome new furniture to not use it all.
