Trying to get the first three homes built.
I'm collecting villager/neighbor photos snd finally got Skye's after a few weeks of trying! She just wouldn't give it up.
Question: Do you get the villagers photo by mail in or in person? And how long does it normally take to reach “best friend” level?
This makes sense. I asked because my two starter villagers are Buck and Charlise. And Buck did mail me his photo two weeks ago but I have known Charlise just as long and she did give ask me for a catchphrase, so I am surprised she hasn’t given me her photo yet. It’s been a few months since I started my island. I am assuming some villagers are harder to get their photo. Both, with a higher chance of receiving one by mail.
The time it takes depends on the starting friendship level, and luck with RNG. Could be a couple weeks, could be a month. Your best bet to getting them the quickest is to gift the villager a gift-wrapped stack of 2 non-native fruit with a full inventory every day.
General Info
You only can get a villager's photo if your friendship with them is high enough. If they ask you to change their greeting, your friendship is high enough.
You have a 6-10.2% of receiving a photo depending on your friendship. You have slightly better odds (15% higher) of a photo when a gift is mailed to you.
Villagers will take the whole stack of items if it wrapped with wrapping paper from Nook's Cranny. Villagers will only take one item from the stack if it not wrapped.
These methods are assuming that you recently got this villager and you need to build up friendship...

Day 5: got an oarfish.Day 4 of my new island: caught a tuna and a blue marlin.
Feeling very good about myself right now!
(Although I assume they will be so much easier to get once the hotel is built)
