What are your thoughts on cooking?

I really like it!
I've not actually cooked anything yet as I restarted my island a week before the patch, and so decided to not decorate my house until I had all the stuff I wanted for it. (My last islands house was just random junk placed for score).
As such, I've no kitchen.

But I really enjoy getting new recipes, and preparing ingredients for when I do cook.
I've got lots of rare fish in storage.

Did you know one of the recipes needs a blue marlin? A super rare pier fish. Better bet its in storage to cook later!

Some of the food is so cute.
I'm so glad we got our food items in this game in the form of what we make ourselves

I really like it so far! There's tons of cute recipes and I feel like they're cute decorations and liven up the spaces that they're in. I also like that I actually have a reason to use my kitchen now lol.

I haven’t personally started yet, as I have a lot to take care of on my island before I focus on the smaller tasks.
I am excited to start and I think it’s a cool thing to add. In the previous games the only good we ever dealt with was fruit. I think it’s a nice addition.
On a side note, from what little cooking I have seen, it reminds me of the game harvest moon a lot - I don’t know if you’ve ever played that.

I've played both switch story of seasons games on the switch and loved them both!

don't forget to buy turnips because that's how you get a special recipe!

not to be a negative nancy, but i'm not bothered by it. the game is no better to me with or without its inclusion. it's just more recipes to collect and more "furniture" to make one of for the catalogue only for it to gather dust in my storage. i don't do a lot of terraforming anymore, so i don't need the food for an energy source -- that might change slightly in the future, but i don't plan on doing any uprooting significant enough where buying oranges in bulk wouldn't serve the same purpose. (and with arguably less hassle.) i'm also not a decorator, and none of the new furniture overall speaks to me enough to make me redo my house's interior. (it's been the same since, like, the summer of last year.) i think i might've replaced the pi day pie in my kitchen with an apple/pumpkin pie, and i might replace an object on one of my tables with the slice of carrot cake (when i finally get carrots), but i don't need the food items for decorating either. i'm also pretty sure you can't hold the fruit smoothies? which kind of sucks. that's the first thing i tried to do when i "cooked" the orange one, and i was pretty disappointed when i only had the option to show it off. i preferred the graveyard i had in front of able's, but i had to repurpose it for a farm to grow the new crops (i don't have any room elsewhere), so if anything, it's been a bit of an inconvenience to me overall as a feature.

that being said, i'll admit some of the dishes look gorgeous, and i'm glad it's there for people who like decorating, do a lot of terraforming and/or had a farm area pre-update that they can now decorate with actual crops instead of mimicking them through other means, but its inclusion makes no difference to me, unfortunately. i definitely would've preferred mini-games asdfghjk but i digress.

I'm enjoying it and was super excited when it was announced. I love cooking in games and enjoy having more food things to decorate with.

You dont have to like the feature. If I knew everyone liked it, the question would be pointless

i preferred the graveyard i had in front of able's, but i had to repurpose it for a farm to grow the new crops

If you dont jive with the feature and you're not fussed about getting the badges for it, I would just put the graveyard back.
I love having one on my island and would never give it up for something I did not like

I used to care about mini games but the DLC really fills that void. So I don't need them any more.

Still really wish we had some reason to play with friends though. Sucks the game is so multiplayer friendly and yet gives no reason to actually do it.

Basically it’s just a reskin of crafting. That said the items are super lovely and add a lot of life to decorating plus I love that they added more crops to have the feature. I’m really glad it’s in the game even if it’s nothing particularly new.

I think its fun but some of the recipes are...strange
I got a recipe for fruit pizza and veggie cupcakes
Veggie cupcakes are in the Sweet tab
and Fruit pizza is in the Savory tab
I'm not really seeing the logic here xD

I'm Indifferent on it. I mean on hand it is really cool to do something different other than crating, but to me it just seems like Crafting 2.0 but with cooking. You basically have to gather all the food items and cook it. Sure when you eat it does give you more energy, but this is something I can see myself doing only once and not touching it again. Its a cool idea don't get me wrong, but I am just not too keen on it. Maybe if it the cooking used more for any purposes to like get rewards then I would use cooking more often. I am just collecting the Cooking DIYs, make all this food, put it in my kitchen and then of course I will earn a Nook Mile Achievement and then thats when I'll be done. I hate to sound negative, but the Cooking is just not appealing to me.

I'm not sure what a Veggie cake is, but if it's anything like a carrot cake, it should be I'm the sweet tab. Carrot cake is my favourite cake!

Fruit pizza is in the Savory tab

I'm unsure of if it's sweet or savoury.
Fruit sounds like a sweet desert. And chocolate pizza is a thing.
But pineapple is a fruit, and one of the best pizza toppings as a savoury.

ah, but i am bothered about the badges ajskdkclg and the catalogue. once i have them all, i will probably knock it down and throw the graveyard back up -- even if it arguably fits my island's theme less.

i mostly would've preferred mini games because i'm not a decorator and therefore not HHP's audience. my sister and girlfriend both own the game, so it would've been fun to have something to do with them in multiplayer since it's dead in NH, but. there's always next game!

Its a really cute function but i forget to use it, i havent been farming either. I guess im all about the aesthetics, its all about the mew furniture for me. But the food looks sooo good, make me really want some seabass lol

I love it!! it's so much fun :] Though I run into a similar issue to crafting where it's a bit of a pain to get all the right ingredients into my inventory to cook with

I love collecting and creating new recipes, so I’m simply delighted to have a bunch of cooking recipes to collect in addition to the DIYs. But I wish there weren’t ones with fish you’d have to kill, especially ones where the finished product still looks like a fish. I’m enough of a completionist that having those recipes sitting there without the ”created” checkmark would really bother me.

i'm not going to learn the recipes aren't (imo) cute to display around my future kitchen area, but seeing villagers cooking stuff is pretty cute !!

haven't picked any crops yet as i planted them all in the order i got them on different days but they're ready now ! ;D

I love the feature but worry I am going to run out of uses for it quickly. I really hoped I could craft food for presents to villagers but I’m sure I read that they display it like furniture which I found really disappointing.
