I'm an active treasure island user since I reset my island for the 2.0 update and I genuinely didn't wanna play the RNG game of getting my most wanted DIYS and furniture sets so I decided to cave in to treasure islands but in the back of my head I always thought "am I defeating the purpose of this game and will people frown at the thought of me relying on hacked islands to decorate my entire island." As in I feel like people will scrutinize my island because I didn't actually "work hard" on my island and just simply got it the easy way.

Even if I relied on treasure islands it was still hard to make use of the items I got and have ideas for my island but I know there's a vocal minority who're purists and even get genuinely upset at the mere thought of just time traveling.

The thing is I already played ACNH naturally during my first island and decorated by actually collecting everything naturally ingame or trading and I did minimal time traveling so I genuinely didn't wanted to do all of that again on my second island. Anyways that's my experience and weird relationship with treasure islands but what are your thoughts on them?

I haven’t used them but can see how they can be helpful. It really is crazy how hard it is to get certain DIY’s. Even trying to get furniture is hard to find on your own. I think it’s fine to play anyway you want as long as your having fun. I have started multiple islands on my second switch so trying to get everything over again would be a pain. So I just move one of my characters back and forth between my islands so I don’t have to worry about DIY’s and furniture. It also gets me to be able to terraform right away.

I loved them in new leaf! Using them to get rare items that were only available from amiibo cards was really the only option for me at the time! Until I... um... started using the save editor... That was perhaps more controversial, but I adored having trees in my river in a second town 🙃
Play how you wish and what makes it the most fun for you. Don't care what other people will think about your lil personal island oasis. 💚

Haha you're right IDK why I'm so worried about what others think but I guess I was mostly curious what the community thought about treasure islands. Like I totally get the appeal of AC's intended way to play but I've been playing vanilla since 2014 I was like ermmm yeah I just wanna speed up the process ^_^"

I haven't tried them on ACNH yet because I've only played mine for slightly over a year and feel like I keep finding enough new stuff. But I can see the usefulness if you decide you really want certain items you can't get, and I would visit them when I get to that point. I remember visiting those in ACNL when I needed to get some last few things. Agreed that you should play the way that you personally find the most fun.

I really tried not to use them, and never did until NH, but man those DIYs are SO hard to get, and I am always given ones I already have! I don't think there's anything wrong with using them, since it doesn't really change others' enjoyment of the game. I'm actually kinda curious about the NL save editor now that I have a modded 3DS!

I think some people get a little too defensive of their play style and think it's an insult when people do anything but their way, but we all have different lifestyles and amounts of free time so it's not fair to say one way is better than another. I would love to dedicate all my free time to gathering things in Animal Crossing, but I'm an adult with taxes and obligations and a job...I'm sure a lot of people who have to study and take college classes also can't spend that much time on their favorite game either. I think it's great there are new ways to enjoy these games.

treasure islands is something new to me and im still trying to learn what they are. but what I know is its a hacked island filled with spawned in stuff of whatever. and you need Switch Online to go to them? whats confused to me is, is this not risky of bans? if I use my unmodded switch and go to a treasure island and loot hacked in items. I dunno how safe that is
else the idea of them seem great, I would fancy to ever get stuff on demand any. I can make a lot of bells and such to just afford whatever, but then its ages to find and get anything I want with normal means it seems. specially when I don't time travel

I’ve never used them, but my shops get horrific furniture selection so I’m always curious, especially as people don’t really play the game anymore so it’s hard to get them through other players

i’m personally skeptical of using them because I heard issues happening such as crashing.

Besides that, I can’t blame people for using them, especially for DIY recipes. The RNG for them is atrocious. It could only be a few days into your island — you could still have many many unobtained DIY recipes, and you’re already getting a ton of dupes.

Honestly, I've always been a little skeptical about them. My friends have gone to some here and there but I don't think I'd ever do it. I recently started a new island and I've made a personal goal of trying to get as much stuff myself instead of buying all the DIYs and furniture I want on TBT marketplace like I always did in my other playthroughs. Don't get me wrong, trading and buying stuff online is super fun, and I always enjoyed playing that way, but I feel like it takes a way a bit of the challenge of the game for myself personally. Plus, as others have mentioned above, a LOT of the items are hacked in and I'd rather not deal with any potential risks that may come with that. I say this as someone who's dealt with a corrupted island once before.

It's a fun concept and all but there's no way to tell if the stuff is genuine or not which I'd rather just stay away from. Obviously though, treasure islands add a lot of fun for the people who do enjoy going to them so I'm glad it's an option for those who want it. Like I said, very fun idea, just not something I'd use personally. 🙂

I don't like them for the same reason I don't time travel. I feel like it takes the fun out of it for me, because I love the slow progress and seeing how things change over time, little by little. If I can't find something myself, I'd rather trade on here or with an irl friend. But if using treasure islands makes the game fun for others, great! I just prefer not to myself.

I used to like them and use them often. These days I don’t really need it but it’s nice for stocking up on large amounts of materials.

I've never used them, but I have made plenty of trades on here and elsewhere. Especially for the seasonal/diy that are linked to balloons. Whoever thought that was a fun and engaging way to lock the content should never touch an Animal Crossing game again. Or any game for that matter.

I forget when I gave up exactly, but I did the first few seasonal ones, but by the time it was the maple/acorn season diy I gave up. I might've gave up earlier tbh. It's not fun and very mind-numbing.

So if others want to use treasure islands to get diy or anything else that is a grind to get I don't blame them. They really went about padding the game the wrong way by making it mega-grindy to artificially lengthen playtime.

Unrelated, when I first heard about treasure islands I thought it was like a treasure hunt with X mark the spots treasures to dig up. I remember doing that a lot on Club Tortimer. I would dig holes around the island to have a holey maze and then at certain spots would be buried treasure like a few thousand bells or whatever. It was a fun way to pass time and everyone that joined in had fun.

I don't think I've ever been to one but I'm definitely not opposed to the existence of them.. people can always choose not to go to them if they don't like them. I like that all ACNH items are relatively easy to get compared to ACNL items (via online)
