What are your Island vistor rules?

For my friends? No rules. I trust them enough not to make a mockery of my town.

For traders?

- Ask me if you want to go shopping
- All trades take place at the airport gate
- No picking flowers/fruits/picking up stuff on the ground unless told they could
- Don't talk to any villager in boxes

Just simple common courtesy things.

These are great rules! I have a lot of traders come in, Most have been amazing but I’m worried one day I may get that one bad apple 😭

I created a fenced courtyard area that encompasses the airport, residential services, and my shops. When my gate is closed, I leave small gaps in the fence so I can move in and out of the area easily. When I'm ready to open my gate to let people shop or sell turnips, I make a quick trip around and patch the gaps, then I open the gate. No one can access any part of my island other than the courtyard and there's nothing in there for them to steal or damage. Eventually, when I've planned out my island and protected each individual area I want kept safe, I may take down the courtyard fencing to allow more access for fishing and bug catching, but for now, visitors are limited to only what's in the courtyard.

I only let strangers into my island once and that was when I had Celeste. I rarely play online anymore at this point because I don’t have a lot of friends that play AC or add me back.

My rules are:
- No running in flowers
- When in my house, don’t pick up anything
- Feel free time take any peaches (my native fruit) but leave some for other people
- Feel free to talk to my villagers

There's no rules for my friends other than don't take fruits that arent pears because sometimes i play with friends before i've had a chance to do my fruit selling trips.

I have a lot of strangers visit for trades and such but i've never opened my island for straight up shopping and exploring. I've also never stated rules for visiting for trades, but if i were to open my island more, my general rules are:

-don't run through flowers
-if we're just trading, don't leave the trade area (trades are time consuming i like to just get them done with)
-ask to buy the limited items in nooks
-dont pick flowers/fruit/any items on the ground
-you can pick 1 diy i have lying around my trading area, but only 1 (I have a bunch laid out i just let people pick 1 from during trades bc i cant be bothered to trade/sell them off, but i also dont want people to come and pick all of them up and just turn them for a profit or make it so no one else gets any)
-feel free to talk to villagers, but none that may be in boxes

but like a lot of people have said, outside of letting traders know the diys are free for them to pick one out, i havent really had to state any rules at all

None really, because the majority of people is already respectful and the rest is protected against by the game itself.
Sure I’d be annoyed if somebody harvested fruit or flower buds without asking, but worst case scenario it’d go back to how it was after a few days anyway.

I suppose I prefer people only talk to villagers they like or are genuinely curious about, but I’m not too bothered if they chat with everyone. I’ve noticed that their mentions of visitors tend to prioritize frequent visitors (or maybe best friends?) over ones who’ve just stopped by, so it’s not really an issue.

yeah ive done a *lot* of trades on my island and i know some people here and there have talked to my villagers, but it doesn't bother me. they talk about people on my best friends list a ton, but i've only had one mention of a person i dont know in the 185 hours ive played the game. so, meh. and i understand the draw to talk to villagers in other islands. it's actually how i've fallen in love with a lot of villagers i love now. katt, nate, nan, and hazel are all villagers i adore now, and it was talking to them on friends/strangers' (who were ok w it) islands that introduced me to them and made me love them

Absolutely agree on exposure to new villagers being a great opportunity!

Personally, I also enjoy hearing them mention random people’s title that I might’ve missed when they visited. Some are really funny, even though my villagers saying they’d like to be called that too just makes me go “oh honey, no” xD

yeah exactly!! dont get me wrong i respect hosts when they're not comfortable with it at all! but just for me personally, i enjoy meeting brand new villagers just because i've met so many new favorites this way and i therefore love letting people meet mine for this reason. also because they get so excited about visitors when i talk to them when visitors are there.... it's so cute

and hearing titles is so fun LOL freshly delivered lawn clippings has been one of my favs so far

I only ask that people don't pick or trample flowers; I go on trust because I can't be bothered to police anything and still the only person who has trampled any flowers is me! (By accident)

I like it when visitors talk to villagers, I never pay attention to visitor names or islands so it's fun to see them mentioned - it makes the AC world feel bigger.

I don't really have any rules other than not running on my flowers and ask to take the fruit.

My only rules are:
-Don't shake the money trees.
-Don't pluck flowers without asking.
