What are your dream town pet peeves?

By pretentious I meant when someone takes their town extremely seriously. They usually have a theme with an elaborate backstory, and use items as symbols. To some degree those kinds of ideas are fun, but sometimes they go too far for me and get really convoluted trying to be deep. They're also strange because the villagers don't seem to fit in at all. Like the story is supposed to have some really dark undertones and then I go talk to Bob and he's like "I like dreaming about food". So maybe AC isn't exactly the right medium?

Maybe that cleared it up a bit? Some people really like these kinds of towns and trying to figure out what they mean, but I go to dream towns to look at landscaping/home design/villagers so they're not for me.

Oh ok. Thanks for clearing that up. I would have to agree as well.

Well, I see what you mean. There was this player who had this really fun town, then he changed a bunch of things and made up this huge story and wanted people to figure out what the story was about. There was a lot of symbols around the town, and no one could figure out the story. When he finally told what it all meant, it was this really long post of a story that didn't make a whole lot of sense. It was one of my favorite towns, but I didn't care much for it when he changed it.

*backs quietly out of thread*

*grabs axe and shovel and continues laying waste to shrubbery*

Seriously, though. It's definitely helpful/useful/interesting to hear people's thoughts on annoyances. My mayor's house is still set up for an HHA theme challenge and I can't bring myself to pull it apart. SO MANY SHINY HHA POINTS. But maybe after hanging out in the forum for a bit longer I'll actually have a go at doing something interesting. Like a Mario-themed toilet shrine with lots of tree and hedge standees blocking the path through the room...yeeeeeeeeah...there we go...

Sleep paralysis. That's the worse. Once you wake up, though, what lies ahead.
Bushes are like the invisible coin blocks of the Mario World romhacks. So plentiful and tricky.

I remember when I started the game, with my first town Applewin, that I didn't know how to get paths. I didn't have much in bushes. And I had a lot of single-tile paths.

I'm not going to be hard on anyone's town.

What can be a turn off, for me, are human houses which feel like I'm going through a maze in order to walk from one room to the next. That is part of the hoarding encouraged by "Animal Crossing: New Leaf."

I was going through a horror story town once. It had a lovely story told through buried items but EVERY OTHER ITEM WAS A GYROID. At the end of the visit there were gyroids littering the ground
