Since After This September; Pocket Camp Complete Will no longer recieve new updates; and New Horizons is the #2 Best-selling Switch game of all Time(2nd Only to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe);
I Feel like a Brand New Animal Crossing Game for the NS2 is Inevitable
So If AND/OR Whenever Nintendo decides to release a Brand New Animal Crossing Game for the NS2; What do You Guys want to see added to the game;
Here's some things I would want from a Brand New AC Game for NS2:
1. Bring back Wolf Link as an Amiibo Villager you can add to your Village/Town/Island/
2. Bring Back the Mii Masks[I'd Really love to be able to use my Mii to represent myself in the game(like I did back when I had City Folk)]
3. Fully Upgradable Nookling/Nook Shop[It's a shame we never could get any upgrades past the T&T Mart-esque Nook's Cranny Upgrade in ACNH]
4. the ability to add More than 10 Villagers
So If Nintendo DOES Decide to make a New Animal Crossing Game for the NS2; What would YOU want from a New AC Game?!
I'll be so happy to see a new Animal Crossing that I probably won't even care about the specifics. I hope the development team put as much care into the new game as they did into ACNH. I'd like QOL improvements like multiple crafting. I'd like more gothic looking furniture. More house styles. But mostly I'd like them to not make us wait too long.
Fully upgradeable Nook shops would be great! I also want ALL the furniture from previous games to return, including their customizations, and I want better multiplayer.. mini games or something fun.
And now that I think of it, I think more critters to catch would be cool, too. Diving critters preferably
Real multiplayer and a real sense of progression are what I would like to see most. Like shops actually coming and being built after you hit certain requirements. We kind of got that in NH, but it stopped too early.
A game with the PoV and sense of scale of the Mario Kart 8 track.
More varied weather: Allow fog to happen all day long. Have snow be possible in late October/early November in addition to raid, allow rain in winter, and some late season snow in early Spring.
Nocturnal villagers such as bats and opossums.
Night shops, such as a convenience store that sells some of the Nook shop items after hours.
A revamp of crafting to make it so only some items and tools can be crafted, instead of nearly everything. It'd be good to have only some small DIY furniture that can be customized while leaving the rest like it was in previous games.
More micro-holidays like the Sports Festival from the GCN game.
Seeing more of the NPCs in town. Example: It'd be cool to see the Nooklings walking around town before the store opens or after it closes.
Anything that makes it better than NH. Most of what I'd like to see was already answered in the previous posts. NH is pretty dead to me atm. The S2 AC needs to revive my interest. Other than Zelda, its the only franchise I'm interested in thats left for me if I want to get a S2 (which isn't happening this year)

That way if you're a Night Owl; You can interact with these villagers while the Diurnal/ Villagers that are awake during the day are asleep; while they sleep during the day while the Daytime Villagers are awake
I like many of the things that were mentioned in this thread, especially Ossiran's idea of seeing more of the NPCs in town. My personal wishlist includes:
Being able to play hourly music from past games;
Having Gracie and her furniture back;
More engaging dialogue;
A more varied day/night cycle, by which I mean the ability to select a day/night cycle pattern that more closely resembles the one from where you are located (right now, it only changes slightly depending on the season and it feels weird to me to play the game during the day but the sun has set already in-game).
These are the ones from the top of my head. Of course, I would also like to see a full shop expansion like you suggested in your poll.
I'll start of by saying that I fully expect an announcement of a new installment of the series by 2026 (and releasing 2027/2028). It's the 25th anniversary of Animal Crossing next year, so it makes sense they'd love to commemorate with the announcement of a new game.
Here's what I expect of the new game v/s what I'm hoping/want to have:
Expecting
I don't think we'll have a completely innovative new feature like in NH. NH gave us LOTS: terraforming, paths, fences, outside furniture, etc. I think it's likely that this new game will be built from those features and improving them. In other words, I don't expect this new entry to be that much of a jump like CL to NL or NL to NH. I don't think it'll be a carbon copy, either (like WW to CL). I think they will probably expand/perfection the terraforming tool -- allowing you to go beyond what we're able to do now (like move trees and rocks, easily). Personally, not a fan of this, but is what I expect them to do.
I think the "island" format will be replaced by the traditional "town" from previous games. I expect Wilbur (or whatever his name is) and his brother to be obliterated in this new entry (same goes for the two new characters introduced in the DLC; unless they're brought back again for some HHA or decoration type thing).
More interaction with objects. I think NH already hinted at this when they made villagers have handheld items + all the outdoor stuff. I think that the next "logical" step is for them to have villagers interact with these items as intended. Example: if you set a kiddie pool next to a villager's home during the summer, you can sometimes find them inside bathing with sunglasses on.
Something I both expect (and hope) is that the art style/graphics of the game won't be radically different to what we've seen in NH. I think they risk making it too HD/"realistic", when cartoonish style is what works best. Personally, I find that the graphics in NH are perfect (they really nailed it) -- but when you look at CL, for example, it feels like it's a brighter, smoother version of GCN (and it looks bad, generally). Even the recently released fan made mod for GCN with HD textures I found to be unappealing, tbh. I preferred their grainier look.
Things I expect to stay relatively the same: Character customization (I don't really see them expanding too much on this; we already have plenty to customize, other than adding more clothes); I'm not really expecting any new, major events / holidays from what we already have in NH ; I think villagers (personality wise) will remain relatively the same, tbh, and we may get 1 (count em') more new type of animal ; house and in-door customization pretty much the same ; weather and seasons will remain relatively the same to NH (which I already thought was pretty great, tbh).
I don't expect cities or anything of the sort (cars, métro system, etc), at all.
Hoping for
A return to form. I'd love to go back to the feeling from GCN-Animal Crossing, where your character wasn't so much the main character but rather one more villager contributing to the town. In both NL and NH, it always feels like the focus is on your character (and their contributions) and it always feels like the town is building around your character (not despite it). I liked how both in GCN, WW and CF, you arrived into an already established town. I really want a slow-paced life.
This might be asking for too much, but I loved how in NH we were able to choose your hemisphere. However, at some point in my life I moved away and I'd love it if we would be able to change the hemisphere, too.
I'd love for some key characters from the past to return: Gracie, Blanca, Loyd, Pete (instead of the card stand). Otherwise, I think we got all major characters present in NH in some form.
On the note I made about "object interaction", I would love that our characters were able to interact as well. Imagine setting up a telescope outdoors and interacting with it, letting you see your constellations (like you were able to do in WW). If that's possible, I would hope for Celeste to have a room for her.
Bring back igloos and tents!
I'd love some events to also come back and have villagers be more engaged with them. Cherry Blossom Festival, for example, which was absent in NH. I'm thinking of the way it was in GCN, villagers had picnics near the fountain! I'd love something like that. Similarly, it'd be cool if for fall your villagers would be mushroom hunting or picking up leaves, for example.
I'd love for us to be able to customize certain buildings: the museum, the tailors shop, nook's cranny, town hall, etc. I think in NH I realized that many didn't upgrade their Nook's because Nook's Cranny was actually more aligned with the style of their islands (I'd also hope for an additional upgrade of Nook's, at least! I'm still missing the convini and super store). Same thing could be said about the museum: maybe have 2-3 options to choose from (the original building, a modern version and something in between).
I'd love more Nintendo items. I was a bit disappointed that we didn't get any Zelda, Pikmin or Starfox ones, like in previous games.
Something keen to Tortimer's island. I was quite surprised that they never included a more in-depth multiplayer mode for NH.
Tbh, I like the dialogue in NH (it's one of my favorites with GCN and WW, of course). This is very unlikely to happen, but yes, I'd like to have villagers be a little bit more rude (depending on their personality but also at the beginning -- like they don't know you, so why be so nice to you at all?).
Sending messages in a bottle!
Better music (it's the only aspect about NH that I didn't like so much in comparison to previous iterations). I like the idea someone else mentioned about using music from previous installments!
