Curious to know if anyone has any ideas for what they might name their very first AC Switch town if/when it comes out!

I have some starting points for names but I still have to really look through them properly and come up with something concrete. I'm also wondering what the character limit will be.

I hope character limit is 20 or something, then I might be able to come up with something more creative then 'Hornburg'

I don't actually have a Switch so I was wondering if anyone might know the character limit for profile names and such? Some games use the system's engine for entering text so I wonder if that might be a starting gauge.

Either Flowert again or Tserof.
I've been using "Flowert" since the GC version, it's a rewording of "Petalburg", the Koopa village in Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door's chapter one. (This was my favorite game before New Leaf!)
Tserof is just "Forest" spelled backwards.
I thought of it since the first AC was called "Animal Forest"; I wanted to homage it.

I've been doing some thinking about it after asking this question and my mind is for some reason wandering over to something in Latin which is weird because I've never actually been particularly interested in Latin or ever have used Latin in a town name before.

Aevitas came up in my searching and I kind of adore it. It means forever, or endless. What do you guys think of it as a name though? Too poncy or hard to read/pronounce?

"aevitas" is cool it means like the noun-ness of age like in "the age of " something i think. i like it but also latin v's are pronounced like w's so it would be ay-wee-tahs but you could say it like you want. a more word that romans would have used for forever would be like semper, meaning always, or infinis or interminus, boundless. :) (i like latin a lot and my sisters took it in high school all 4 years)

i would probably name my switch town another day of the week, probably saturday :)

Somnus or Panacea
Somnus will have the original trio in ACNL.
Panacea will be about magic or something inspired from the anime The Ancient Magus Bride.

either Moment, Elpis, who is the greek goddess of hope, Antheia goddess of gardens, or Hestia goddess of the home

Not sure! I'm aiming to be able to play the game in Japanese and have a good handle on it by the time it comes out (I can with pocket camp but that game has so little dialogue lol) so it would be a bit jarring to use an english name like I usually do. If the switch game has amiibo functionality similar to right now I'll likely call the town カエル (frog), since I run an all frog town - it's also a homophone for 帰る (both read as KA-E-RU) which means return. After all it is the long awaited return to my frogs...

If villagers are random and no way to easily get all frogs I will have to think about it. I usually call my towns Yonder, but the Japanese equivalent for yonder is apparently slang for private parts so, hahaha, no thank you.

I haven't decided for certain yet. It sort of depends whether they bring back cliffs. If they do, I will probably name it something to do with mountains. If not, I might name it after my Gamecube town, Waterlog.

Looking at that probably won't be much help. For example, the birthday wish in New Leaf can have way more than 8 characters. I know this because my villagers will not shut up about how I wished for "Quillson leaves Taiga forever".

Im gonna call it Finally.
Since Ive been waiting for ever.

Hehe, nice idea.

Well, it depends if the character limit is going to be 8 again like in New Leaf. If it's the case then
I would choose either Maryhill or Rosepool for the town name, as I used these names for my New
Leaf towns. If it's more then 8 then I will think about a new name.

I'm rethinking my original idea of Aevitas, it's just too fancy for what I usually go for. I usually like simple words. :)

Like Comfy.
At the moment I'm thinking Comfy.

This will probably be a boring answer to most of you, but I'm going to use Forest. I know it's not very unique, but I've been using it for every AC game, and it's become somewhat of a tradition for me. If it'll be possible to make a 2nd town, I'll probably use something more creative for that, but my main town will always be Forest.

Probably something silly like Equestria, I'll probably think of it on the spot though

Do you guys think we'll be able to have as many towns as there are Switch profiles? 'cause Jeff if that's the case I'm sure that'll suit your needs! (But I bet Nintendo will find some way around us having separate towns per profile haha)

I think you can.

I don’t know what I’ll name my first town, but that would be my guide town, where I time travel and get items. The second one, I think I should recycle one of my ACNL town names.

hmm ill probably name it after one of my favorite games or off an autumn theme
so possibly aquios, aquaria, pesotto forest, Automne, Les Arbres, persimmon, acorn, shigure, ect XD
