I'm simultaneously super confused and super annoyed right now.

Okay, so, I have Cobb moving today. His house isn't even gone yet and I have a 10th villager already plotted.
It's not an animal I've had in my campsite. I've never even seen them in my town. I was expecting to have a day or two before I had to start checking for plot resetting, but since I knew today was the day he was moving, I thought it was fine to load up my mayor.

Is this normal? To have a boxes and their replacement on the same day? If so, I wish I would of known this before! I was going to put a PWP there! *heartbreak*

the villager was most likely brought from someone's void!
if you have 9 villagers and you visit someone who has just recently moved out a villager, their voided villager will be dropped off into your town
to prevent this for the future, make sure the person your visiting/trading with has cleared their void, or visited a town with 10 villagers :)

I... see. *dejected* I didn't know that voided villagers were exempt from the campsite rule.

Maaaan... I dislike TTing but I'm probably going to spend all night doing so just to move them out, now.

Good luck...getting a tenth out is viciously difficult. Your best bet is to talk to them once, and then ignore them.

ignoring them doesn't actually help, villager move outs are actually random because even if you ignore a villager and they ping you to move out and you agree, they can immediately change their mind and say they "want to be better friends" (this has happened to me literally twice now) but it should actually be easy to get the 10th out seeing as once you have ten the game will automatically attempt to go back to 8 villagers, thus you should get someone to ping soon.
to aeristria, i recommend going day by day and talking to each villager you'd like to keep...
also, if a villager you're ignoring pings and they change their mind when you agree for them to leave, just close the game without saving and restart it and the same villager should ping again to move, but change their mind and actually decide to move instead of stay
hope this helps!

^ Yup, pretty much what FN1 & n0bo said.
Also, talked to them a few times when they first moved in, then proceed to ignore them worked for me.
It moved the creepy Tammi out in 2 in-game weeks.

IMPORTANT: When they announced that they are moving, pay extra attention to the moving date - because they love to 'change their mind' after you said yes to their move -
should that happens (I guarantee you that it definitely will), quit the game without saving, then quickly TT that day that they said they would move. They should be in boxes. TT forward one more day to get rid of their house. That way they won't have any chance to stay, and you can clear up a spot to adopt a villager of your choice.

It sounds like you dislike TTing, but it'd be sensible to make an exception in your situation.
Here are two guides that would be very helpful (they helped me moved out 2 villagers successfully without problems).
Good luck! C:

Is Cobb the villager that moved in? Or is he another villager thats in boxes?

If Cobb is in boxes and the uninvited villager is still plotted. I recommend that you do this!!

- Let Cobb move out.
- You should now have 9 villagers (including the unwanted one)
- Adopt a villager that you really like.
- (optional) plot reset for this new villager
- Try to move out the unwanted villager.

The reason why I recommend moving another villager in first is because the last villager to move in (while not impossible) is EXTREMELY difficult to get rid of. I personally have never been able to do it successfully. To get an idea of how difficult it is: I once TT'd 20+ years (1 month at a time) and still wasn't able to get my 10th villager out... so I just gave up and let another move out first. It was only after I had moved in another villager that I was able to get rid of the unwanted one.

Thanks everyone. I've already started TTing to rectify the problem. I'm hoping I can get it sorted before tomorrow morning. There are turnips to be bought!

@FireNinja - I know for certain ignoring them doesn't help. Infact, it seems like the closer friends you are, the more they want to move away from you. ;_;

Another thing I wish I had known a long time ago. Thanks for the tip.

@Maruchan - Thanks for the references. It's not that I hate TTing - I see the uses of it, I had just wanted to grow my town organically. I'm a little sad I wont be able to shrink my tree again after all this is done. I'm already three months in the future, and I've been going day-by-day. That, and TTing is mildly panic-inducing, as I just finished 1/2 of a garden. I'm just waiting for someone to try and plot on top of that. >:\

@pocky - Cobb was already here, and moved out this morning. I got so caught up in Hazel moving into the space she did that I actually forgot to say good-bye to him. It makes me feel a little bad. :c

By now, almost everyone except Hazel has wanted to move. -.- Only one of my original six hasn't betrayed their loyalty to me. >_> I have gotten rid of Pudge, whom I didn't mind, but always hated that he plotted right on top of my bridge (before I knew how plotting worked.) That dropped me down to 8. Now I'm back up to 10 because Pashmina moved in (yay!) and so did Chadder (yay?)... I feel like by the time I get rid of Hazel, my town is going to be completely different...

I'm going to be here awhile...

Well, it took all bleeding day, but I managed to finish. Finally got Hazel to leave, then took the extra initiative to move Chadder out as well. Having another smug just made Lopez less special to me, and he's my IG BFF. Of course, at that point I was still riding TT momentum and completely neglected to realize that'd drop me back down to 8, so Prince moved in... (-facepalm-) but EH. Fine. Whatever. No more TT. Atleast he didn't move in to a spot I find completely stupid and I kinda like his house. I just wish his "goatee" wasn't so... eugh. It looks like he dipped his face in a pool of sewage...

But, even though my town is fine, thanks to the Beautiful Ordinance I had anyway... My villagers managed to completely trash their houses by getting rid of everything and replacing it mostly with clothing over the course of "three months." Any tips to recover from this? T_T

Congrats to hear that you managed to move two villagers out! ^^
(Not so much about the Prince part though...)

Have you 'blocked' all 8 Re-Tail slots with disposable things (like regular flowers/sea shell/native fruits, etc) and priced them all at maximum bells? That way it blocked out the main channel for villagers to put their stuff up for sale. Yes, it worked like a charm, I've been using that for over a year, so I know it worked well, whether it's your main or cycling towns. Yes, they can still receive furniture/clothing via gifts exchanging behind your back, or when you run errands for them, but for those request you can always decline or not deliver when you have saved before delivering to ensure it's not something that they can use/change into. If you have Re-tail slots open or have things that they can afford to buy, you will always have villagers selling their stuff there. Unless that's what you are going for. ^^;;

As for how to tackle villagers home/furniture/clothings replacing furniture issues,
I'd invite you to go through this thread here, as it's super helpful in dealing with that, and is loaded with real experiences and advice.
[ X ] <-- please read the entire thread, I just quoted it at a certain post starting at Pg.5

Hope this would be helpful to you too. Have fun! C:
