I was very happy. Each fighter is unique and different, and as much as I'd love Wolf, I'd rather play as a new, unique character such as Bayonetta than play Wolf when I can play him in Brawl.
Tbh I was kinda disappointed with Corrin at first, but they look very diverse and looks great. Despite this, they're definitely my least favourite (I can't really choose between whether or not Cloud or Bayonetta are my favourite) which is a good thing considering I like them. It would be cool if they wielded an axe or a lance, though, as it would set them apart from the other five sword-wielding characters. Part of me believes their inclusion was a "**** you" to everyone who complained about the fact there were 5 Fire Emblem representatives.

I'm decently happy with the presentation. Although when I first saw it, I thought corrin was a girl? Oh well. I didn't know who bayonetta was either, so I was kind of disappointed at the start. But Bayonetta looks really cool, so I think I might have a new main.

Still annoyed about this fire emblem scum though.

I feel weird because I think I may have voted for Corrin when the ballot was first released. We didn't know his/her English name yet, so I voted for Kamui and was hoping they'd know who Kamui actually was.
I only voted for him like once though, my other characters got maybe 2-3 votes.

Bayonetta was a must, but Corrin is pretty forgettable. Expected Shovel Knight or some craziness like Cooking Mama, Isaac from Golden Sun or Gracie.

I'm still can't believe Bayonetta is in.:):):):):)

I'm gonna shrek some people up with her.

I actually never expected Bayonetta to be the ballot winner, but it's great that she's in the game.

Corn on the other hand tho....Man, Sakurai sure loves his anime swordfighters much ey ey ey.

I wish King K. Rool was in there as well, but maybe smash 5???

I'm more disappointed that the only character they seem to have picked from the ballot was Bayonetta, which isn't so much the fact that it's her than it just being her. I thought they were going to pick like a top 3 or something rather than just one character. It just seems like they over sold the poll just for one character, a character that seems they decided on regardless of the results.

Corrin I don't yet care about. I find it hard to care much about a character from a game I've not even had the opportunity to play yet.

Bayonetta I've never liked. I wouldn't mind her inclusion though if, like I said, they did the top 3 rather than just her.

Cloud I'm 'eh' about. I've always thought he was a mediocre character from an overly praised game. He's pretty fun to use though I guess and I'm glad Final Fantasy got into Smash in some form, because lets be honest, Cloud is the only way Final Fantasy was ever going to get into Smash.

I am not disappointed at all! I like the new characters and Bayonetta really is a good choice!

The character i voted for was Daisy and i hoped that she would make it in the game of course but i don't mind that she wasn't chosen. I do hope that they will make her and alternative costume for Peach in the next installment or even a clone character!

Yeah, I am pretty disappointed. I was hoping for more villains, and I seriously thought K. Rool would win the ballot because of how many people I've seen who wanted him in.

I don't really get why there's so many FE characters now. Sure, it may be getting popular, but there are more FE characters than Zelda characters in Smash? I thought Zelda was more well-known, so this makes no sense to me.

And wth is a Final Fantasy 7??

I'd say something about Bayonetta being an 18+ rated game, but we had Snake in Brawl, so... Wait, MGS and Bayonetta are rated 18+, right?

Bayonetta 2 is rated 16+ actually

From what I'm aware, Zelda isn't as popular in Japan as it is everywhere else. Fire Emblem is really popular in Japan though and it's been around since the Famicom, so it's only really 'getting' popular outside of Japan, it's always been fairly popular there. It's a Japanese developed game that caters primarily to a Japanese audience, soooo....
6 characters really isn't that bad for a series as old and with so many games and characters as Fire Emblem though. People probably wouldn't have complained as much if it was more gradual rather than '0>2>2>6'.

Final Fantasy VII is like the most hyped JRPG ever.

I don't know about Bayonetta, but all the Metal Gear haves have been 16+. Phantom Pain I believe is 18+, but that came out long after Snake was in Smash, so it doesn't really matter anyway.

I detest Corrin. I didn't need or care about another fire emblem character, ESPECIALLY one who hasn't even had a western release in their own game.

Bayonetta on the other hand is my Bae-onetta (That must've been used at least 5million times already. I'm so sorry.)

I would've been a lot happier with a Donkey Kong character, Zelda character, or Inkling than Cloud. I mean Final Fantasy VII is a good game but I hate Cloud.

Fates is being released to the West in the same month as Corrin's release in smash.

This. People either never knew or tend to forget that Fire Emblem has been one of Nintendo's longest running franchises. The series just celebrated its 25th Anniversary this year.

Of the currently running franchises, it is younger than Mario, DK, Zelda, Metroid, and Kid Icarus. It's older than Star Fox, F-Zero(dormant), Sonic, Kirby, Pokemon, and Pikmin. Game & Watch, Duck Hunt, the EarthBound/Mother series, and Punch-Out!! are all either dead series or see a release every 20 years.

Fire Emblem existed long before Awakening thrust it into the public eye. People like to complain about too much Fire Emblem and too many swordfighters, but a) the series is one of their most long-lived, and b) other than Lucina being a Marth clone, they all play differently.

I agree that it would be nice to see more representation for the other series like Donkey Kong. I don't play those games, but I admit that I'd love to see K. Rool, Dixie, etc. They would have been fun to play. I'm one of those people who plays with everybody, not just who I'm familiar with.

As Dixx said above me, Fire Emblem: Fates will be arriving in North America in the same month as the Corrin DLC hits Smash. Think of it this way, it's essentially an advertisement for the upcoming game. It's basically the same thing they did for Roy all the way back in Melee. Speaking of, Roy's game was never released outside of Japan.

But I agree to an extent that we would have been better off, Fire Emblem fans and non-fans alike, without Corrin. Fire Emblem fans have to deal with the outrage from the Smash community. On the business end, this oversaturation is bound to turn potential customers off of the Fire Emblem series out of contempt. It is understandable why Sakurai made this decision, but the outrage is also understandable. It's all pretty unfortunate.

Overall, I think Fire Emblem should have had Marth, Ike, Robin, Lucina(barely), and Corrin as representatives. I don't think Roy should have returned.

Marth was the original lord from the original Fire Emblem game.

Ike is one of the most popular lords in the series and while Brawl showed his younger Path of Radiance look, Smash 4 showed his older and more muscular Radiant Dawn look. He also has one of the most unique playstyles among the Fire Emblem representatives with his heavy weight and powerful hits.

Robin utilizes the magic tomes that have been a Fire Emblem mainstay for years and helped to advertise Awakening and acknowledge its success. Good choice.

Lucina adds female representation and fans who hopped on with Awakening like her for some reason. If the audio situation wasn't an issue (switching voices), she really should have just been a Marth alternate costume. It would have been a harmless addition like Alph is to Olimar.

Already explained Corrin earlier.

As for Roy, he really should not have returned. People who don't even like the Fire Emblem series just wanted him back because they liked playing as him in Melee and because he was a veteran. He's a terrible unit in his own game and the only reason he is popular is because of the "Roy's Our Boy!" meme. He hasn't been relevant since 2002. Overzealous Melee fans only have themselves to blame for his return and popularity.

Having 4 representatives in Marth, Ike, Robin, and Lucina was ideal. Corrin is unnecessary, but that's marketing for ya.

Kinda. Corrin is cool and Im excited to try him, but, even as much as I love Fire Emblem, we didn't need another fe rep. And Bayonetta makes no sense imo. But whatever
