Weeding help

I have just got a new game and before I start to develop it I thought I would use it to enable my other games characters chance to get their 'gold' weeding badge but...... I time travelled 4 years forward and only got about 60 weeds! how come? I did all the begining bits like got my tent, did the letters, caught 3 bugs ect

I think there's a max number of weeds that can spawn each time you load up the game, try TTing a bunch in smaller increments, like a year at a time.

I think I was expecting it to be like the old Animal crossing as the town was full of them if you hadn't been on a while, thanks I will try that.
