I wrote a little something last night hoping to win Ankha, but I ended up unexpectedly filling my last available spot

. Thought I would submit just for the fun of it since I took the time to write it.
MAYOR NAME: Kristin
TOWN NAME: Momoland
DREAM ADDRESS: N/A
ENTRY STORY:
Bing-bong!
It was a familiar sound in the town of Momoland as Mayor Kristin rose to greet each new morning. The chiming of the bells as they rang out proudly from Town Hall usually signaled the beginning of the Mayor’s official responsibilities – commissioning new public works projects, furthering the beautification of the town, and ensuring that no mischievous citizens were burying pitfall seeds that might go unnoticed by a hapless pedestrian – but today the sound meant something quite different. It meant
adventure.
This would not be an ordinary day for Mayor Kristin.
This was the day that she would be visiting the town of Vezyan for the very first time. Rumor of her upcoming trip had spread like wildfire among the townsfolk
“Vezyan!” Mitzi had said. “I’ve heard that they have orchards as far as the eye can see!”
“I’ve heard that they’ve got their own pro football league!” Poncho suggested.
“And I’ve heard that their boutique is absolutely to die for!” Tiffany supplied with a dreamy look in her eye.
But today was the day when all rumors would be put to rest. Mayor Kristin had butterflies the size of birdwings as she prepared herself for the train trip that would take her to her destination. Her mind was so preoccupied that she very nearly stepped out of her house wearing the moldy shirt that she kept meaning to wash but had never gotten around to. Luckily a disapproving look from Freya was enough to make her realize her mistake, so she changed into something a bit fresher and made her way down to the station.
Porter greeted her with his usual enthusiasm (adding many an ‘eek eek!’ and ‘ahh ahh!’ as he did so) and inquired after the rather frazzled mayor.
“So today’s the big day?” he said. “What are you planning to do when you arrive? See the sights? Chat up the mayor for new ideas? Get in a bit of shopping?”
“Actually, Porter, there is someone in Vezyan that I’m scheduled to meet. Someone very special.”
“Is that so? Well they must be mighty important if you’re willing to travel all the way out to Vezyan to see them!”
“She is indeed. I only hope that I make a good impression on her. If all goes well, Momoland just might be welcoming a new resident before the day is out!” said Kristin with a nervous smile.
“Well, she’s crazy if she doesn’t see all that you have to offer her, Mayor. Eek! Eek!”
With Porter’s encouragement still echoing in her eyes, Mayor Kristin boarded the train. Time sped by at a dizzying rate as the train tracks whizzed below her, and it seemed only seconds later when she was stepping onto the platform of Vezyan. Sprawled before her were banks of sand the color of newly-spun gold, and rows upon rows of exotic trees the like of which she had never seen in Momoland. The sun shone down with an unusual vigor, and the air was tinged with a hint of spice that spoke of faraway lands. Kristin was so awestruck as she surveyed her surroundings that she failed to notice the arrival of a strange and silent cloaked figure that appeared somewhere on the periphery of her vision. Her heart skipped a beat when she realized that she was not alone.
“H-hello,” she stammered, looking over the unannounced stranger. There was little to see, for the stranger’s features were wholly veiled under the loose garment. Only the eyes were visible, lined in a black as deep at the River Styx. “I didn’t see you there!” Kristin continued. “ I’m --”
“I know who you are –” a female voice spoke imperiously from beneath the covering. “And I know what your business is here. I have read the signs and felt the winds of change at my back.”
“Err, I’m sorry, have we met before?” Kristin asked, perplexed.
“We are only meeting now in the waking world, but I have read the hieroglyphs and deciphered the scrolls and I have been awaiting your arrival for some time now. You do not know me yet, but you shall!” she proclaimed, and threw off her cloak in one swift motion. Underneath was the most unusual and startlingly lovely feline that Kristin had ever laid eyes upon. She had a coat of golden fur offset with markings of royal blue that recalled the splendor of the pharaohs of old, and she wore a headdress whose like Kristin had only ever seen in the pages of history books or on display in museum exhibits. “I am Ankha, and I seek out new horizons! You are the one that shall lead me into this new phase of my life.”
“Ankha!” Kristin blurted out, relieved. “I’m so happy to hear you say that! I’m Kristin, Mayor of Momoland, and I just know that my town will provide you with the change that you’re looking for.”
“Then lead on, Kristin of Momoland! Even now, I see with my inner eye the land that you call home shining like a far-off oasis. I know that it is no mirage. Ra has given me his blessing on this day!”
Still reeling from the curiousness of Ankha’s dramatic entrance, Kristin linked arms with her new companion and escorted her away. It was only then that Kristin could be fully convinced that all of this was, indeed, ‘no mirage.’
