Does anyone else get annoyed at the watered down personalities in the newer Animal crossing games?
The snooty's have always been my favourite.. however they are just not as mean as they used to be, i can recall in gamecube, them calling me a baby, stupid, jerk etc.. Now they just seem to be a bit more posh than other villagers, but not mean or anything
Same with Cranky's

I hope in future games it doesnt get even more watered down!

The snooty villagers used to be my favourite personality aswell. I used to have Portia in Wild World and she would be pretty mean sometimes but I loved her. I have her in my new leaf town and she's completely different. I don't like it :c
I have 2 cranky villagers and neither of them have lost their tempers at me or gotten mad over anything really.

Yeah, they've definitely been watered down. Stitches doesn't seem that lazy anymore and the grouchy villagers are a lot kinder too.

Thanks for bringing this up. I knew something felt odd. I hadn't played WW or CF so I don't know if it's just a thing from GC to NL, but is it really that different from WW or CF as well?

Agreed with Stitches, only been in my town a day or so, and have noticed
Peppy also aren't as cocky and confident as they used to be

Only ones i haven't noticed a change in are Normal & Jock

I think the developer got lazy and make them pretty much the same? I don't know..
But yeah, they aren't as bad as before.. Seems like they're lacking their own personality now and it's nothing new.

I've noticed this, too. In previous games, some of the villagers were really mean, in this one, they all like you. I'm wondering if it's trying to make them more kid-friendly, because I used to be scared of a few villagers when I was little.

Maybe people complained that the snooty and cranky villagers were too mean :P
Who knows. I'm still sad that they've lost their meanness though!

I mean could you really see a snooty villager acting like this anymore :(

Apparently parents have complained about the older personalities, which is why we have softer personalities in New Leaf.

Aww! And here I thought that Vic was being so nice to me because I was just so sweet! ;)

With the spotlight on bullying these days, I can see why the developers would soften the personalities. Parents do not want any kind of bullying, whether IRL or in game, to affect their children and complain at the least little thing.

Just my opinion, but yeah, I don't see the personalities going back to their former state any time soon.

I agree with RisingSun.

At first I thought it was because I was mayor, and they were all sucking up. xD But. RisingSun's theory makes more sense. Haha.

Don't you think Politcal Correctness has gone to far though? i mean parents seem to complain at even the slightest onset of rude behaviour these days, and seem to think their children will be deeply offended by them, it surely didn't harm kids in the past, i mean for someone whos experienced bullying in the past, i personally was never offended by the villagers in gamecube acting rudely towards me

I just think molly coddling all children in every aspect of life isnt helping and is actually more detrimental as it doesn't give them experience on how to deal with it, if they ever do face rudeness etc
just my view

Oh, I agree. I'm almost 40 years old, and have always hated the mollycoddling that I've seen. When I was in high school, I walked a half mile to catch the bus and I was never one of the popular clique. I turned out just fine and have three wonderful children to prove it. Parents these days are afraid to let their children walk down the road and out of their sight for fear that "something will happen to them." My opinion, it's called growing up.

Yes you have the attitude just as my Mum does, which i think is the right way to go :).. im frankly scared of how far Politcal correctness is going to continute to go

I miss my crankies being cranky. It was nice to see the evolution of them starting to warm up to you. ):

Hoping they fix that in the next game, though I highly doubt that.

They really did water them down so much. :/
I started out with Kiki and she's a normal villagers.
Oh my god she was so boring to talk to. It was like the normal episode of spongebob.

I made Ankha call me a peasant but it isn't quite the same. ; n ;
