Was I the only one who failed at Halloween!?

I was so excited for Halloween! I met Jack. He told me what I needed to do. I met my islanders who were outside. No problem trick-or-treating with them. I gave Jack candy and lollipops. Ooh, treats! Then I remembered my residents who stayed at home. Time to visit! So I went to Raymond and, to my horror, he said, no candy for you, you're not scary enough!

I was in costume! I don't look like that every day! I was a safe-for-work succubus! I mean, AC is a family friendly game, after all!

Well, apparently, just wearing a single recent item (the wings) was not enough. I thought it was just Raymond but Deli also refused to give me the time of day. So I went home and changed and put on the horns, wings and zombie outfit, and stomped back to Raymond's.

What!? I looked ridiculous. Like I couldn't decide if I wanted to be a zombie, imp or an example of a germaphobe with a serious laundry problem. I didn't look scary. Just hilarious.

So. Was I the only one who failed at Halloween?

the first two times he even had the audacity to say i wasn't wearing a costume at all, which are big words coming from someone who was only wearing imp horns.

Like, most of my islanders were only wearing the imp horns, and that somehow makes them more dressed for Halloween than I was!? Look at Raymond. He didn't even have the horns. The top hat and vampire outfit weren't even among the new items released for Halloween!

lmao i had the same thing happen to me at my friend’s island. my first costume consisted of a fairy dress, vinyl round-toed pumps, impish wings and a plucked white lily, as i was going for silvermist from the tinkerbell movies. ,,well, obviously, my costume wasn’t good enough and i couldn’t get any candy until i put on jack’s robe >_<

I was only wearing 2 of the new costume elements but I guess that was enough? I had the mage's hat and impish wings but I wore the visual punk dress because I didn't like the costume dresses at Ables. I felt like my costume wasn't that great though yet it still got me some candy. I guess it would be interesting to know what exactly counts as a costume

My 2nd character's costume isn't "scary" enough, so I had to change and put on the Skeleton outfit just for the heck of taking the candies. After that, I changed back to my original costume.

Meanwhile, my main character's costume is just a regular outfit, with the exception of the paperbag. And apparently, it was scary enough.

I admit, it did deflate my enthusiasm about having dressed up a bit. I seem to remember villagers recognizing completed clothing sets in the last game, but I could be remembering wrong.

right?! like, i'm wearing cat ears-nose-dress and that's somehow not a costume at all while all of my villagers only had either imp horns or an animal hat... ok sure

i should have put on the same outfit dom was wearing and seen if that was good enough.

That's pretty weird that your imp wings weren't enough because that's what I was wearing and it was enough on my island.

But then when I went on my friend's island, one of her villagers told me to try harder, lol.

I don’t remember my deer being scared of my deer costume... they did hand out candy to me, though. I did use a piece of a Halloween costume (the flashy animal suit).

I didn’t know you could fail. On my other island I didn’t wear a costume, and my villager still gave me candy. I was wearing the red ruffled dress which I wear every day.

wow! This surprises me. I wore this stuff and didn't have a problem. Technically the only "Halloween" item on me was the wings beyond my white body paint and teal braided hair.

Nope happened to me too.
I dressed up in the black/purple jeogori, put on a spooky skin tone and eyes, had the imp horns, but...nope.
I changed into the imp wings, imp horn, animal nose, and the deep red Lolita dress and that did the trick I guess.
Still was bummed I couldn’t be my undead demon ritualist thing tho. :/

Lol I was wearing the vampire outfit and had white skin and yellow eyes and blood splatter on my face and apparently that wasn't good enough! I wonder what items classify as scary? Because I have no clue why the vampire outfit doesn't

it's annoying that only the new clothes from the update are considered a halloween costume when there are plenty of good costumes not using any of those items...
