What's your opinion on the war in Libya? Do you think it was a good move for the United States and its allies to take military action against Gadhafi?

I think that they made the right move. Gadhafi is basically the same, if not worse than Saddam Hussein, and a lot of innocent people there have been dying because of him.

To be honest, I think this whole country(meaning the US) is screwed.

Why do you say that?

We're in the middle of two military problems right now, did we really need to add on a third? And also we're in a recession, instead of going of to war we should be worrying about more important things... like lowering the unemployment percentage! Or helping to improve health care!

I really don't think Libya is going to pose much of a problem. They're a backward 3rd world country with a primitive mindset.

Ummm, what? Have you seen the riots? We're going to be killed. And also, what about displacement? Where are all the refugees going to go? What are we going to do about them? The way I see it, we'll be there in a while picking up after the mess. But you know, we didn't have too, we could've just let them be, laissez-faire.

I'll be quiet now. You obviously have no clue about what's going on.

"We're going to be killed"? Uhh...

The recession is over...and really this isn't a war, Libya is protesting their government and we are just aiding them. They are obviously going to win and I doubt Libya has the power to attack America, France, and the other aiding countries let alone stop the protesters that have made it into the capital...

I found it MORE amazing that the French dived in so quick.

Don't they usually surrender IMMEDIATLY in wars? > o>

It's a bad idea to intervene and try to be the policemen of the world. Foreigners invading is also a good recruiting tool for Gaddafi.

I can see from your second sentence you think it was a wrong move... but your first sentence makes no sense....

Me? I'm split. On one hand there is a pretty bad ruler hurting many who by our laws are innocent. On the other, if we over exert our power not only will we lose it, but we will create more enemies if handled wrong.

In this particular case though, the fact that there are rebels is a big deal. That and the fact that it isn't just one country aiding them, looked like Britain, France, and the US in on it.

Sure the recession may be over but their are SO many people still feeling it.

This situation is entirely different. This is a UN resolution and we are definitely not the only country participating in this. On top of that, it has the approval of the Arab League and is not likely to cause us such image problems as seen in the other two wars. This also just involves aerial and naval support protection for the Libyan Rebels. Also, NOT doing this isn't going to get us anywhere on those others issues, our government is quite capable of divided attention. The people at the Pentagon are never going to be deployed to tackle unemployment. Also, military actions are generally good for the economy. Notwithstanding the fact that our military commitments in Iraq and Afghanistan have decreased in magnitude considerably over the last two years.

Intervening ≠ invading, especially when this has the backing of the UN and the Arab League against an unpopular dictator.

I was watching Hetalia when the news came up about the French Fighter jets, I actually shouted something about France not sitting in the sidelines for once (You'll probably only get that if you've watched Hetalia.)

But seriously I think it's a good move, people are suffering in Libya so the major nations are taking action. Hopefully it won't be long and drawn out.

I feel like we're walking a thin line. On one hand, something needs to be done about Gaddafi, but on the other hand, we have a lot going on at the same time. It's a really difficult situation and one mistake could lead to an avalanche.

Badly off topic but I really do not agree with your top 5 doctors. J/s.

Anyway back on topic.

Tbh I really really am pissed off with all theese bs wars and **** going on in the east. Even more so that the west sees fit to jump in when we have little interest in the countries at war. I understand the Afghan war but the rest I really don't. If I had power I'd of pulled out years ago. (AND NOT STOPPED PRODUCING HARRIERS D<).
I swear governments today are just....ugh
