Voided villagers get priority over everything (-_-;)

Querstion!

If you get a voided villager from someone else's island do they show you letters they recieved from their previous island owner? Like in the old games?

4) I know all of this because if you try to the amiibo of a villager in your void you CANNOT use the amiibo to invite them to the campsite and must take the voided version.

This is so weird to me, and i heard stories where it happened to others more than once. The amiibo villager would say they are moving but when the next day comes, the villager from the void moves in instead! It might be a glitch, because i dont see why they thought this was a good mechanic. amiibo villagers should have top priorty to move in. or it might be intended, too. Sometimes they make decisions that i cant understand lol.

No, they mention the other island the first time you talk to them then never again.

From my experience with the void, here is what I believe to be true.

1) There is no known method of clearing the void. I time travelled over a year and played over 80 in game days and my void was still filled.
2) Voided villagers will buy the plot the day immediately after the "empty plot day". Meaning you have a single day to get an empty plot filled.
3) Your void can hold at least 4 villagers from other towns.
4) I know all of this because if you try to the amiibo of a villager in your void you CANNOT use the amiibo to invite them to the campsite and must take the voided version.

Does your void get filled only by people on your friends list, or can it be filled by stranger's islands that you only visit through Dodo code (to sell turnips and such)?

yep...the void is a killer. I've never had any problems with the void in NH because I'm forever scarred from my experience in NL...

I had 9/10 of my dreamies and a 90% completed town in NL. I finally got my last unwanted villager to move out, and was searching on this website for my final dreamie to move in, and was mentally preparing myself to reset for a few specific housing locations. I often played the game with my sister who at the time was in middle school and wasn't as in tune with the game as I was. So one day, I started up the game to discover that Renee the hippo (who recently moved out of my sister's town) was going to be my final resident. I almost cried. I remember being soo angry with my sister, because in NL the 10th villager cannot ever move out of your town unless someone else moves out first. And I couldn't move anyone else out because everyone else was my dreamie, and even if I did, I'd have to cycle through 16 villagers to get them back. Ohhh man, I was so mad. But honestly, in the end, it didn't matter too much because her house was not in a terrible place, her exterior was not ugly, and her design actually blended in with my town. It could have been much worse, so I'm thankful out of all the reject villagers I could have gotten from my sister (or any other online player) Renee wasn't that bad.

Anyways, whenever I have an open plot, I try to fill it as quickly as possible, and for sure wait to trade online until that plot is "sold," just in case. I guess in your situation, it seems like you have to find a villager from a mystery island asap, instead of relying on the game choosing a random villager to avoid getting your own rejects!
Wasn't how it worked in NL that you didn't even need to visit people's towns to pick up voided villagers, even just streetpassing and existing on the same internet connection as another town would lead to you picking up voided villagers? I wonder if that's a thing in NH as well.

Any island, I believe.

Yeah neither my friend or I were too thrilled when I had a villager move out, and over a week later there he was on her island. It honestly kind of puts a damper on playing online with a small group of irl friends or family I suppose if you visit lots of strangers online frequently then the void thing won’t feel as bad since you aren’t really going to remember or be familiar with with all those people’s villagers, so even if their move outs come to you it’ll still feel random and new.

yup, you could transfer voided villagers through street pass in NL (this is for local connections, I think for internet connections you would need to actually visit the town)

So what happens if you were to let go of those villagers again would they go from a to b and back to a again? And so on?

So no matter what if you visit someone u get there villager from their void?

This sounds like a glitch that needs to be fixed
yep, back and forth like a yoyo. this is why i constantly have a stock of tickets and i've been forced to take from the last island i've visited via them before, because i knew i'd end up with one of the ones my hubby booted to the void if i didn't.

@Bioness wow, a year and 80 days played and they still were in the void? this should be on a time limit... damn

Do we know if villagers in the void have their clothes/wardrobe reset, or do they carry clothes they've been gifted with them?

No, they mention the other island the first time you talk to them then never again.

No way! Never again? In ANY other way? That sucks. I remember when a villager would go from a friend's town to your own on the cube version. They would always whip out some nice letter they got from your friend two months ago and make you feel all jelly about it.

I miss that!

This is honestly the straw that broke the camel's back for me I never ever want to connect with anyone ever now and I'm returning my second switch lite thank gosh

I don't know if you guys remember (assuming you played New Leaf) but you could clear your void of any voided villagers if you visited someone who already had a full town of 10. Has anyone been able to determine if clearing your void is still something we can do? I'm gonna be kicking out a few villagers with amiibo in the next month or so and would rather not send any unwanted guests in the wrong direction...

There doesn't seem to be void clearing anymore. At least not by that method. I've apparently been accumulating void villagers for quite a while, even though my town was full of 10 villagers. They're all just waiting for an empty space to move into.

I did mention before hearing something vague about not interacting with other games fo rfour days to clear the void, but I still don't know how true that might be.

My town roster is so lopsided now because of voided villagers! If I knew I would have chosen better ones! So my two islands interact regularly and swap resources, seasonal diys, etc between them. I decided to cycle through some villagers in the south hemisphere town through amiibos, for some resources, so I'd get in a desired villager and use another random card to force them out. The popular villagers get adopted out obviously, but the random ones go to the void. I thought they'd just disappear after I visit with a full town like in New Leaf, but nope. For a whole two months now, every time someone moves out of my main north island, the spot is always filled the next day with some villager from my south island void. I'd go island hopping, then get tired and decide to let someone move in at random only to find that 'random' is just 'south town void villager.' It doesn't even matter to the game if I already have like, 6 personalities of that same type, as long as they're in the void, they're welcome to come on in, I guess. I was trying not to 'engineer' my main island villager roster and just let whoever move in because meeting random villager is exciting for me. But when 7 of my villagers are girls of the same personality type and all from my south void, its time for some intervention.
I believe if you TT 4 individual days without interacting with your other Switch (turn off Wifi!) then that clears the void so they won't mess up your other town. Definitely give it a shot and let us know what happens! I would love an update.
