Villigers and their NH Models

With NH they did release newer models/redesigns for some of the villagers. Are there villagers you didn't like previously installments that you like now? Or are there villagers you like in the past that you like even now?

I loved Biff previously but his new design actually made me love him more plus I kind of like the new hippo look. It's very cute to me.

Another one is Kitt. I tend to either like or love Kangaroos. I was actually pretty indifferent to Kitt's overall design. Her new NH design moves up to my 3rd favorite Kangaroo. They lightened up the contrast of her markings while keeping her eye marking the same darker color which was my main reason for not really care for her design.

I agree absolutely on Biff. His new horizons version is just adorable!

I think this is a somewhat unpopular opinion but to me all the sheep look 10 times better wearing clothes as clothes rather than scarves.

And most of the clothing choices are much better! What even was up with Fauna’s old outfit?

I never played AC before new horizons, but from just comparing pictures online, generally I find all the character designs much more aesthetically pleasing.

I never noticed that the Kangaroo model got an upgrade. The roos now have lil paws poking out; that's such a small detail but I love it!

Kitt in her NL outfit was and is so iconic if they didnt include that outfit for her in this game at all thats a shame but i do think she looks cute in the pink dress also just not the same.. it contrasted her eyes well.. i didnt notice they lightened her eyes.. hmm

I always felt a little weird about the sheep wearing scarfs especially since most of the shirt design gets hidden. I'm happy they can wear them now. I think they only wore scarfs because how fluffy the sheep model are but now with better graphics they can wear clothes and still keep their fluffyness. Also Frita now has the power of a hotdog shirt.

Back in the previous games for some reason all villagers wore short sleeve shirt no matter if the original design came as a long sleeve/dress or not. Which didn't do some villagers any favors.

totally agree w biff! i actually love the entirety of the hippo redesigns, i think they're much cuter. i also like the changes for

phoebe, whose is all about subtle changes, the shape of her tummy colors, the size of her beak and cheek blush, the detail of her tail/feet.

gala, whose nose has been downsized and her features a bit more streamlined to be the same texture/adding detail to her hooves.

will anyone ever be on the redesign level as chow tho, that's the real question, my friends.

I think it's them being more expressive? I know what you mean. I had back and NL and currently have him now and get the same feeling. It might be the flashing of white they give him when he opens his eyes.

I have him in my nl too but i dont know where the charger is so im not able to check!! But i saw a pic of him in new leaf with his white eyes flashing.. trippy for sure

I used to dislike sheep villagers because of their "nakedness". But now I like them.

I still dislike most hippo designs even with the glowups. I like Biff though.

Then there's the gorillas. I am not much bothered by their low-poly butts. But now, I can't help but stare at them when I see them pass by me. That's why I avoid gorillas now because of their HD buttcheeks.

When I came across Biff on a mystery island I thought at first that he was a new villager. He looks so much better in NH and I kinda want him on my island at some point!!

Oh my gosh Chow. I really didn't like his design back in NL. His NH one is a whole lot better. Phoebe they brightened her in game colors a lot more. NL has bright colors but they were still pretty dull. I didn't notice about Gala or any of the pig villagers but that was a great change.

Kangaroo's are just about the most perfect design.

I had Kitt 15 years ago in WW, and when I first saw her, I was like, WHOA, AWESOME!

I have Mathilda on my island, and I totally love her.

I looked into this and apparently villager redesigns are nothing new. A lot of the animals in the OG games have some features tweaked/redesigned in later games they appeared in. Makes sense as resolution was not as good so characters may have had bigger faces/features so they could be seen better.

I think the horse model proportions are better in this game. In NL they were a little squat and thier heads were a little too long and made them look odd.

To me, Ed has gotten a nice glow up. His blue is now more vibrant, and they gave him his eye back~

Doc I think looks cuter now with the more simple eyes. He reminds me of an Arthur character.

Basically all the villagers with glasses now look better because the glasses are now a separate piece, not textured on their face.

Yeah the villagers with add ons do look better. Knox and Sterling both look like have Helmets. I do like the softer brown they went with Doc.

Biff is definitely cute! I'm not sure why he's a rust color now, though. I don't really mind it, I'm just wondering why they went that route. The NH models look really great.

The model itself (used for all cub villagers) is different, so I'll throw in those differences alongside his own (besides the different colors):

• His bangs are thinner.
• His head shape's a bit longer/less round. It made me think of this gumdrop (or Peeps marshmallows).

• His nose is bigger with a slightly different shape and his white mouth circle is smaller/rounder.
• His legs look slightly longer and bigger/wider. This makes the body look rounder because of how they curve together/into one another (though I feel like the body itself was actually made rounder too).
• His cheek marks are smaller.
• His eyes are rounder and less slanted.
• His ears are bigger and shaped differently.

the changes are minor, but overall her design is warmer and softer!! I love her new outfit so much also
