Villagers you thought were popular but aren't?

Where did you look? Because melba is a tier 2 on the list we currently use. She used to be a tier 1, not so long back.

Dang, I assumed she wasn't tier 2 since I didn't see her, I guess I missed her when seeing the list.

I thought tigers in general were popular, but I see they are not, still don't know why, I love Rowan and Rolf. I think Rolf is tier 3 or 4 tho. Oh yeah, and I thought Felicity was at the same level of Rosie, but she is a tier 3 I think, I like Felicity more than Rosie, she is more cute to me.

Yes, why isn't Rolf more popular...I don't understand that one, either. I assumed tigers and lions would do quite well when I first saw them.

Oh and Annalise. We are hardly overrun with great snooty villagers. She has pink hair and a very pretty face, in my opinion. I'm surprised she's tier 5.
And filbert, I thought he would at least be at the top of tier 2

I guess so! Many people dislike him due to the 'creepy and evil clown' trope, but I guess that shouldn't detract from the overall popularity! He's probably kinda hit or miss tbh

Yeah, and it's the exact same reason why Coco is up in tier 2 as well.

Before I joined, when I first saw the old list before the new one was made I though Biskit would be a tier 2. But I learned that he was a 3. Now he is a 4 in the new list, but I am proud that my favorite villager is not ultra popular.

I completely agree on Melba, Mint, Joey, Frita, & Agent S. They're all adorable and deserve more love. Someday everyone will realize their great potential. ;v;

gayle is the one that surprises me the most tbh. she's this really cute and pink alligator with an equally cute house and i thought she would be tier two or three, but she's tier four. i honestly think she should be higher tier because she's an amazing villager (i have her in my town)

holy **** i thought wendy and nana were popular but damn theyre tier 4 i just noticed

nana is like a bubblegum monkey and wendy is like a tropical blue raspberry sheep

also thought pippy and sydney would at least be tier 3 or 2 but for some reason theyre tier 4 wtf sydney is the cutest koala next to melba imo. pippy just reminds me of hatsune miku for some reason so maybe thats just me

I have been here since November 2013. I started the game three years ago this month. I did not notice the popularity thread until at least January 2014. I started following it and, of course, decided to get some of these highly-ranked villagers. I found that most, but not all, of them matched my personal tastes.

The one thing to have always kept in mind is that it was never meant to address which villagers are, and are not, worthy of having in a town. The popular lists were only with regard for this website over time.

Having several copies of “Animal Crossing: New Leaf” gave me a better opportunity to experience a greater number of villagers. I found that, with a given town (like my first, Applewin), I tended to be loyal in wanting to keep them. (I have had that town since August 2013 and held onto original villagers Jambette, Scoot, and Twiggy.)

I suggest not focusing too much on who ranks as being among the most popular or the least popular or at whatever level in between. For example: I really enjoy Hamlet. I don’t care where he ranks.

I was surprised Bob (Tier 2), Mitzi (Tier 2), Carmen (Tier 4), and Tiffany (Tier 5) were not not higher. You see Bob and Mitzi a lot in fan works. For Carmen, I would have thought her simple design would have been more appealing. I am surprised Stitches is so popular D:.

I definitely agree about Gayle! I have her in one of my towns, and she's absolutely adorable. I never thought I'd use the word "cute" to describe an alligator, but that's truly what she is. SO surprised she isn't more popular, she has such an eye-catching design :|

I always say this hahaha but Celia! She's very simple and cute and her house is very elegant!
Hamphrey too, he's so tiny and he has cute eyebrows!
