I loved having Quillson because that little nerd fit with my island SO WELL but the exterior of his house is completely awful. Tones of duck crap come to mind and it would not have worked with my blues, purples, and pinks.

I brought Mira to my island and had to let her go because of her weird stage themed house. I didn't want to let it bug me but it really did. She's a superhero bunny, why is her house now a theatre stage? Her house was better in past games.
This! Chief is one of my all-time favorite villagers, but his house in NH is just awful.

After like 3 years of effort in New Leaf I got her interior mostly over to the modern series, it's all black and white big checks and she likes it enough to display it. IT WAS SO MUCH WORK HAHAHA but her house looked like not a complete wreck!! I swan to john I will send her presents of REASONABLE FURNITURE UNTIL SHE'S NOT A TOTAL TRASH SQUIRREL ☆ｏ(＞＜；)○

Of all the villagers I have, I am sad to say only one of them so far has an interior that I kinda like (Raymond). I hated Rudy’s starter house and I messed it up by gifting him a bunch of random stuff before I decided that I wanted to keep him, so I used an amiibo card on him and then used him to move out that amiibo. His “normal” house is actually really cute though since he talks about muscles all the time, I thought his house wouldn’t have a toy/kid theme.
But of my favorite villagers that I have right now: Punchy, Kiki, Merry, Roscoe; I honestly don’t like any of their houses. I don’t hate their houses, but I think some of their houses were better in NL than in ACNH. Their houses are nowhere near as bad as Gaston’s or other villager’s houses that I saw posted in another thread, but it still looks like not too much thought was put into the furniture choices or placement or at least not as much as was put into houses like Julian’s.

I like Antonio but not a fan of his exterior, I have yet to see his interior.

Zucker, I almost invited him to my island but one of the reasons why I didn't is because of his ugly interior.
Also Lucky's house- just because he is a mummy doesn't mean he wants to live in a graveyard :/ its kind of mean lol. poor thing probably just wants a normal house with a bed...

Drift and Dizzy. It is one reason i want Drift as a starter so at least i wont have to deal with his original interior. Olive's house is almost similar to the starter house and is kinda boring but not ugly. I had her living in the starter house.
Zucker. There is better furniture they could have used for that concept, and also his floor and wall don't match a matsuri theme at all!
Shari's house is way too dark, gloomy, and doesn't fit her appearance/coloring or species at all. Her rattan furniture in New Leaf matched her much better!
I also don't really like Sherb's house. The furniture is OK (just a bit boring), but his wall and floor once again seem a bit too dark. It would have looked nicer with a lighter color interior.

Hornsby is super adorable, but his house is truly that of a lazy villager. Cracks in the walls, trash bags, magazines on the floor. I've been giving him some more colour furniture to help spruce things up a bit.

Like, literally, every single last one of them. Stitches house is atrocious and not suited for not a single acre of my damn island. But he's my Number One, so I have no choice but to live with it.
Next, I have this residential area housing 4 villagers, carefully designed to match the general color scheme of the RS right next to it, and I'm obviously gonna want the houses to match as well. Thing is though, absolutely not a single villager of my taste comes with an exterior that matches that specific area. They're all just weirdly mono-coloured in a really specific bright, or unnecessarily dark color. Now I have to decide between getting the ones I want and having an eye-sore for what was supposed to be a nice upper-middle-class neighbourhood, or having my all-beige-red-brick utopia with villagers I'm just not fond of :/ Nintendo could've at least thrown me a bone here lmao

This has always been a huge thing with me...I pretty much don't like villagers who either live in dumps (Jacob) or outside.
I really like both Chief and Bruce...but Chief is now apparently a Redd wannabe in some back alley, and Bruce just lives on a basketball court.
