With the latest installment to the Animal crossing series, more and people have been introduced to the game, and a lot of them have never played the previous games. This question is for those who have: Which villagers bring back memories for you? For me, I have 4, Hazel, Tangy, Kabuki, and Marshal, but I'll list my 2 favorites.
1. Hazel. She was one of my very first villagers when I started out in New Leaf back in 2013. New Leaf was my first Animal Crossing game I'd played, and had no idea how you played it. To me, Hazel was a great friend! She was always nice and helped me out with some things I didn't even know about! Unfortunately, since I didn't know much about the game then, I stopped playing for a few weeks, and when I came back, she was gone. It broke my heart and I never found her again after that, even after I restarted my game in NL. She makes me nostalgic because she reminds me of when I first started!
2. Kabuki. I have an obsession with cats (currently filling my NH island with them!) and he was my first cat villager in NL. I loved him. Like a lot. It was always fun to give him gifts through mail, send him letters, talk to him, fufill his requests...you name it, I did it for him. He actually motivated me to play back when I was new to NL, at first I thought it was boring and didn't grasp the concept, but having Kabuki kept me interested because my former younger self loved cats. He brings back a lot of memories of going through my firsts in NL.
(Basically both villagers helped me in my amateur stage)
Enough about me though. What about you? Who brings back memories for you?
Cleo has been my favorite since the gamecube. She never made it to CF or WW but the amiibo update brought her back in New Leaf. We were united after like 15 or 16 years and it feels so good. She's in my NH island town and I own her card so that she'll never leave my side again. Hands down a better friend than some irl people I've know over the years. At least this scripted pixel horse can't steal from me or lie to my face and she's cute to boot.
tbh i was so young when i played wild world that i forgot who i had lol, it was pretty much my sister's game anyway
but i remember having stitches on city folk and his eyes would freak me out however since he was the first villager i remember having, i've had him on all my ac games and now i find him really cute ♡
beau! he was one of my starting villagers banc when i started playing acnl in 2012; we lived literally as far away as possible (my house on the upper left corner, his on the very bottom right), but he was so sweet that i visited him all the time!
one of my favourite memories was when i was redecorating my house, and i was frustrated that i didn’t have a bathtub to complete my bathroom. then beau came in for a surprise visit and actually gifted me one! :0 it really cemented him as my favourite villager.
a couple years later, though, my friend asked me to time travel for him so he could sell his turnips. i didn’t know of the possible consequences since it was the first time i had done it ;w; it was only a few days forward, but when i went back, beau was in boxes! it was devastating to see that and not be able to do anything about it. the letter he sent me as a farewell mentioned that he hoped his present would always remind me of him, and it was his photo c’: i cried so much. thankfully, i’ve found him again in acnh and never plan to let him go <3
For me it's Moe and Tom.
Moe and Tom have been in my new leaf town pretty much since the year the game came out. Every time I started over my town, which was a lot, I always got them both again. Now I have them both on my island. I absolutely love having them on my island because it makes it feel more like home after having them in new leaf for so many years. I love these two.
Say what you want about Gruff, but he makes me pretty nostalgic. I started my New Leaf town back in 2015 and he's one of my starter villagers in that game. Even to this day, he still lives in my town! Did I mention Gruff has the same birthday as me? It blew my mind when I first discovered it (along with other villagers born in the month of August).
Fast forward to New Horizons, I was island hopping to meet new faces. I think I used around 10 NMT to find him. During that time, I had a horrible stomach pain that appeared out of nowhere. It was almost unbearable, I had to stop for a few minutes. The pain still stuck around, but I powered through it. Then, on my final island to hop on, I saw Gruff. Not only was I pleasantly surprised to meet him, but it also cured my stomach pain! Gruff literally healed me and I did not hesitate to invite him on my island.

1. Kody- He reminds me so much of City Folk. To me, he felt like such a supportive friend. I might want him back as my permanent Jock villager in New Horizons, I'll see...
2. Becky- Another one from City Folk. I loved Becky! I wrote her so many letters, and gave her many gifts because I wanted her to like me. She was probably my favorite villager from City Folk.
3. Pekoe- Another one from City Folk. I was shocked to find such a cute, and popular villager in my town. I remember her as the first villager to have fleas. So whenever I see a villager with fleas, I think of her. (I really want her back in New Horizons).
4. Apollo- I really got into Animal Crossing through Pocket Camp and Apollo was the first villager I ever had in that game. I have never found him in any other game, unfortunately, but maybe New Horizons will be the one!
4. Tank- One of my starting villagers from New Leaf. Another supportive, energetic friend. He just honestly felt like my pal. I was devastated when I found that he had moved out. (At least Julian came as a replacement...)
5. Pinky- My friend and I joke that I "stole" her from his island. She was a voided villager (best one I've gotten). She just brings back fun memories from New Leaf.
6. Stitches- I was also shocked that I had a popular villager like him as a starting villager. I love him so much. He was so funny and sweet. Brings back good memories... I would want him in New Horizons, if I didn't already have Erik and Sherb (two lazies).
i never owned a copy of animal crossing wild world personally, but when i was younger my friend would lend me hers on the weekend and thats when i fell in love with rosie, shes an absolute darling and ball of energy! peppy personality is my fav for this exact reason!
O'Hare, Marshal, Static, Tom, and Snake. I had them all in my most important to me new leaf town.
O'Hare: So he was my first random move in, and when he first came I didn't care for him much besides the fact that "he's cute". Eventually, I started growing attached to him. Verrrryyyy attached to him. I would go to see him first thing every day, I'd make sure to do all his requests (his house was a mess lmao), and always send him love letters. Yeah, I pretty much fell in love with him I also had like over 20 pictures of him he gave me so they were everywhere. I had to sell that town (thanks mom..) And I was upset. No more O'Hare. Or the others either. I rebought new leaf a few years later (and I still have the town to this day) and I have my originals on it except Snake.. And O'Hare. I plot reset for him on the first day I got the town. I stopped playing. He left. I was upset, I cried. I have him on my nh island but I still cried and it didnt help he sent a sad goodbye letter with his picture in it. I love him but gee way to tug on my heartstrings man
Static: He was a random camper in my nl town and I was ecstatic. get it? I read a blog where he was someone's favorite villager in City Folk and that made me want him too, not to mention that he's cute. So when I finally got him I was so happy! He was the second to give me his picture.
Marshal: I plot reset for this lil guy because I didn't know about using the forums to buy villagers and stuff. It took like 3 hours but I got him eventually. I loved him sooo much, and I think he may have been the 3rd to give me his picture. One day I was time travelling willy nilly and he left. Man I was upset. Very upset. I cried. I didn't even want to play anymore. But I had an idea. I asked my mom to buy me his amiibo and she did! I was so happy.
Snake: I got him in my campsite in nl. He moved in right next to O'Hare which I thought was super cute, two bunnies living right next to each other :'3 He's my favorite jock. I think he was the 4th to give me his picture
Tom: Found him in the campsite also. I wanted him because of a blogger just like Static and I wasn't disappointed, hes a sweetheart and my favorite cranky rn. I think he was the 5th to give me his picture.

My first game was Wild World and I definitely feel nostalgic when it comes to Goldie, she’s the only villager I bought an amiibo card for! I also can’t wait to get Peewee and Tank; I’d say they were always my top three even going back about twelve years ago, and they remind me of spending hours on WW during school holidays etc.
My first game was also Wild World and my 2 favourite villagers in my very first town were Goldie and Whitney. Whitney was the first one to ever send me her picture and I was over the moon! I feel semi attached to Marina too, she was one of the first villagers my sister had in her town, and we always played together. Plus I was very into pink back then
Biff, Hornsby, Punchy, Mitzi, Tangy, Tabby, Cesar, Camofrog, Cousteau, Jeremiah, Ribbot, Sprocket, Winnie, Gayle, Mallary, Ursula, Tutu, and just a few others I can't remember off the top of my head.
Curt takes me back to my lil self playing city folk. Just a grumpy old bear that I loved as if he was my grandfather.
I remember HATING Monique. Makes me remember how salty I would be when I walked past her in my game (hehe)((I currently have nothing against her. She’s sassy and high class - respect))
And Pudge, he was like a baby to me. He made me so happy. Whenever I see streamers find him on deserted islands, I feel so warm.
Then there’s Buck who I had a massive crush on and now every time I see him I want to vomit because he looks dirty and has that jock attitude BLEH (honestly reminds me of my ex which disturbs me greatly)
Robin, Coco and Maple are all really nostalgic for me. Maple in particular for a very personal reason. None of them are my dreamies though, even though it's nice to see them now and again.
