Chow comes up to me today and says he's moving. This is my weeding town, so I always let them move if they want. I want to see who else will show up. When I agree, he says that he's changed his mind and that we need to spend more time together to become better friends. Why would he do that???

I think this happened one other time. I seem to recall a villager saying something like "Oh, you're so funny. You'd never let me move."

Frustrating. Has this ever happened to you.

Yup, they do that fairly often. If you really want them to leave, just quite your game without saving and ignore their ping when you go back in the game. They will move on the date they told you they would before you quit.

Has happened to us all. If you haven't saved you can just turn the game off without saving, reload it and he will ask you again.

It happened to me a few weeks with Patty. She was a non-dreamie and she pinged me. Excited, I told her she could move and was happy to let her go. I was TT-ing and rushing through it, so I guess I button mashed and didn't see that changed her mind and decided to stay. I only then noticed when she was still there even after her moving date. Sigh >.>

This wasn't a separate ping. It was the same, initial conversation.

Yeah. I've decided I don't like Stitches as much as I anticipated so I let him move when he pinged so I can get someone new, and then he CHANGED HIS MIND. like no. gtfo.

Beardo did that to me. All of my villagers are really hideous and I'm trying to cycle them out so I can actually do landscaping. When he said he wanted to be better friends I almost threw my ds in the pool.

When it is the number one villager you really want - NEED - to leave...and they decide to stay so "we can be better friends"?!

Worst part of Animal Crossing because a) we will never be that good of friends and
B) it takes sooo long for them to ask you again!

I was just thinking about how annoying this is today when Pekoe pinged me saying she wanted to move and I said kbye, but then she was just like "but if I move I won't get to spend time with you ;u; I'm not moving!" and I really just wanted to throw my game against a wall. I really want to move some villagers out as fast as possible so I can start redoing my town and that was just so annoying. I turned the game off and redid the whole day just so she would ping again and instead actually decide to move away.

Yesterday, I was so happy that Jitters pinged me. But when he was all like, "I can't leave all my friends, blah blah, staying here..." a little voice in my mind screamed, "NOOOOOOOO!!!" I've been feeding him rotten peaches ever since. ;)

Yes, I know that, but if you had not already saved your game after that conversation, you could have quit without saving. When you had gone back into the game, Chow would have pinged you again ... because he was the "moving ping of the day". You could ignore this ping and he would still move. You could also just talk to him when he pinged that second time and maybe that time he would have agreed to move instead of saying he would stay.

Of course, if you had already saved, it was then too late. Just good information to have if someone you want out does this again in the future.

Mine was Papi and he changed his mind. I wanted him gone because he set up his house in between retail and city hall.
I would have left the game without saving but had done a lot.
The 2nd time Papi was a rumor mover and all 3 players ignored him till he was gone. The one time he pinged the mayor walked fast and found a tarantula around the corner. Caught it. Papi left and the police station is in the spot now.

Rizzo did the same thing to me like your villager did. I realize that some villagers like Rizzo do this because I believe that if you never talk to them while you are trying to get rid of them, they always change their mind of moving away. However, sometimes they will move away if you TT back and fort (if the villagers that you want to keep never move at all).

Yes, in fact, it happened TWICE with BUBBLES. >:V I couldn't have been madder because I was REALLY trying to get her out of my town... blegh.

It happened once with Beardo. I hated him and wanted him to leave, so when he changed his mind I was like

But something happened. He wanted to be better friends with me, and so I tried actually talking to him. Now I love Beardo and can't imagine my town without his weird eccentric dialogue, funny mustache, and 'Shoom! Much better' dance. He's my favorite smug!

So far, this only happened to me once; it was Blanche. But, thankfully I eventually was able to get her to leave. Funny that I'm saying this now; she has been visiting my town this week.

That happened to me once during a trade - I heard the rumour that the villager was moving so I told the person buying her that she'd be ready to pick up in a few minutes. Oops I guess she wasn't quite ready to leave.
