So I noticed that a lot of people are annoyed when the villagers in their town dont wear exactly what they send to them, have houses they dont personally like, or will not fulfill requests because then the villager would have bugs or fish in their homes.
But then people complain about the dialogue being too similar and how they want villagers to be more diverse in their personalities?

Nintendo gave every villager their own likes/dislikes, personalized home, and favorite clothing items to make them stand out more from each other and it seems like so many people just want them to look how they want :(

Isnt the point to befriend different villagers? Why would you not want to help them out just bc it would make their house "ugly" or will make their outfit change? If they like it they like it ykno. Nintendo made them pretty diverse in this way and so many people ignore it for "aesthetics" and will only focus on the dialogue being similar it's weird to me idk didjsixnsk.

If ur villager dresses in "ugly" clothes that's just their style. Let them dress ugly gdi

People like to control and manipulate their "animal friends" more than, you know, acting as friends. That's unfortunate, but it's true.

"Oh, but I don't think villager X will look good on those clothes".

"That piece of furniture doesn't fit their house, I won't allow them to have it".

But at the same time...

"LET PEOPLE PLAY HOW THEY WANT"

happens every time

Well, I'm not that extreme, but I personally like my villagers to wear their default clothes they came in cuz I think it looks best on them. If they change their outfits I don't report them though; I try to let them live their best life on my island.

Yea most of my villagers have on their original clothes unless I find an outfit they'd love (I always check djddnsjsnxi)
But I think it's silly how many people will refuse to do tasks or give gifts from other villagers as to not ruin their image when a bug part of the game is helping out your neighbors

Honestly, I don't care what's in their house or what they're wearing (as long they never wear anything inappropriate). I also don't care if they are one of the lesser popular villagers (the ones people seem to hit with nets and push to get to leave). I'll let them move out if they want but I won't attack them or anything lol I just feel bad if I do.

Always viewed villagers in NH as those who wanted to get on this getaway package for a reason so I let my villagers do whatever. I also don't treat my character as 'superior' so my house is bunched with my neighbours.

I have to admit I do some research that I wish I'd do for my studies, about what kind of clothing suits them better (and now with Nook Plaza I also try to take into account what do they like).

Maybe I'm unlucky but I've had a lot of repeated dialogue, so I'm on the side of ''well a little more of variety, perhaps you know less bug obsession or things like that, it could be nice''. Just small things like they already do with how they seem to behave? For example maybe having Sherb talk more about sleeping (sleep focused lazy) and Stitches about bugs (bug focused lazy?). I know it would be a lot of work considering the amount of villagers, but I do hope that at some point we get something similar.

If they request something I always say yes though, I don't have the heart to deny them, but I understand why some people may want to not risk the cute interiors (Raymond please, I know the red mum is cute, I gave it to you by accident, could you please at least put it on your table and not on the ground). I've had people go like "How dare you", when I say I'm going to give everyone that doesn't have it, a bed.

And even once when i was giving away a villager, I had to go through a lot of questioning about what had I done to said villager... and long story short I ended up giving it to another user who seemed more hyped and less analytical about it ^^ (it's ok to be analytical though, some poeple not only want their dreamies, they want their dreamies in a specific way).

I am not gonna lie that it bothers me when I see my villagers using the custom stuff I made and put on display on Able's, just because they are terrible lmao. But let them do their thing, the villagers are just vibin
Also just - why would you put a flower on the floor???? Dude there is a table- you know what, it's fine.

Oooh now I want to give everyone a bed too!!! Poor zucker all he has are cardboard boxes lol

I feel the same way! I like to give villagers as much freedom as possible, I even let my first ones pick their own house locations... And if they ask to buy a flea from me so they can display it in under a glass on their shelf, more power to them (cough Tammy..)
But. I also understand why people wouldn't want to play this way... I mean, it's hard to suspend disbelief and think of villagers as individuals once you've played the game for a while and recognize their repetitive patterns. For a lot of people they're just another thing to customize as part of the island/town etc., so why not have them exactly as you want them.

...I have my wall covered in my custom designs too, and tbh the worst is when my Muffy (Idk she seems to REALLY like my espeon hoodie) When she puts this on, it stretches out my Espeon so much it's distorted and... honestly disturbing to look at Espeon that way, god. But still... you do you Muffy... you can totally rock that hoodie.

i like to leave my villagers as is, and if they put a stupid bug on display in their house thats fine, it really doesn't bother me at all, like half my villagers have bought fleas i've taken off them from me just to display in their homes which i find hilarious

I feel you there, my reaction is usually like ''NOOOO NOT THAT ONE THAT ONE IS HORRIBLE'', that's why in my new save file I'm not putting down anything to display. They are so cute though when they are like ''Oh you designed this? This is great!", while inside I'm like ''That vaporeon looks like it has seen some things ;u; but thanks''

I love helping my villagers and giving them gifts, I do try to think what they may like based on there house/clothes/way they talk. For example I have Rowan the tiger, who is great fun and he always talks about exercise and stuff so I gave him a protein shaker the other day and he loved it!
I probably wouldn't give him flowers and cute items as a gift I don't think he would like those 😮

I wish there were better descriptions of each villagers likes/dislikes though as getting items for their yards can be tricky :(

Lmao yes, that's why I stopped giving Clay clothing unless I test it on Harvey's Island. Also, I have some really stupid designs like a cap written "Fish fear me, women love me", and it's atrocious when they use it, they seem so clueless lol

akdkskkd they are so happy and I'm just like 🙃. But I saw Kyle once with a hoodie just like one I have IRL and it looks like he's my boyfriend lmao

Yeah it would be nice if the companion guide included more about them!!!
I usually go based off of their personality type, color palette, and I know there were some lists back during NL that were made for villagers bdays to show what kind of items they'd like the most as a gift. So I'll sometimes use one of those to guide me a bit.
I'll also try to incorporate bits from inside their homes too, but having a better idea as to their favorite flowers would be really nice

In new leaf I didn’t care. I gave them random things. In this game I give them clothes I think would be cute on them and stuff I’d like in their home. But if they wanna buy something or want me to catch them something I do. It doesn’t bother me what they put in their homes.

I don't tend to dissuade villagers from decorating their homes with things or changing their clothes. Sure I might think something looks bad or doesn't suit them, but whatever. When I give gifts to my villagers I always try to consider what they like and what their favorite colors are. I think it's super satisfying when they really, really like something and it shows in how they display it or how often they wear it.

I gave Colton a white noble coat and he loves it, he wears it every single day now and he looks so dapper and cute! Feels really good knowing I made him happy.

The same thing happened to me!!! I gave freya a pretty dress with pearls and she wears it all the time now. Makes me so happy to see she loves something I gave her enough to wear it almost every day ; u;

Oh my gosh that sounds so pretty!!

Reminds me of Marcie, I gave her a flower crown and she wears it all the time when I visit her in her house. I love how tiny it is on her head.

the person who had raymond before me seemed to have given him a throwback gothic mirror... and i've had a lot of fun visiting him and taking screenshots of where he puts it because every. single. time. i enter his house it's in a different spot haha
