So I have read that if a villager in your town is NOT moving out, then your villagers will mention something about rumors, and I have read a couple of lists stating what the villagers will say about rumors depending on their personality type, but does anyone know exactly what this encompass? For example, if your villager asks about a rumor related to the player, does this count, meaning no one is moving out? Or is there a really comprehensive guide on this topic?

I don't know enough about the mechanics to say definitively, but I can tell you that while playing earlier, Sprinkle told me there was a rumor about me and Bree confirmed to me that she was planning to move tomorrow.

From what I experienced, if they are talking about a rumor involving you, it does not count. (ie: "I heard you are a time traveler!") If it is about themselves or others it means one of two things:

1. They want to move currently.
2. Nobody wants to move currently.

If you need to be sure that it is not the first, what I do typically is save and quit out, then make sure they are the first to ping me when loading in. If they do not ping you, then is it very unlikely that they want to move.

OK, I see. So I guess the only rumors that count towards no one moving is the specific lines. If anyone needed to know what they are, here's the best one that I found:

Cranky: state that rumors can be frightening.

Jock: ask to spread rumors about their latest world record, or complain that others say that they are a prince from another planet.

Normal: comment that they will only spread rumors they have seen themselves.

Smug:remark that they have done things with other villagers, but refuse to elaborate on the details.

Snooty: use fabricated examples to show the player that simple rumors can spread very quickly
.
Uchi: complain that rumors are circulating that they are known for one sport, when it is in fact another.

Peppy: ask the player for any gossip, think you are keeping something secret, and ask for you to spread the details.

Lazy: Will say that they heard rumors that a villager has ticklish feet, and they might use that if they want something; or. they?ll say that they bought an extra item by accident, and now rumors are going around saying that they have a collection of stated item.

Also, I usually try to confirm the rumors with another villager just to make sure it's not actually the villager telling the rumor that is moving.
