Villagers keep moving right next to me

I had his problem in my last town and I don't remember if it happened before then

Basically, new villagers keep trying to move as close to me as possible, which leaves the other side of town completely empty. Is this just back luck with house placement or is it normal, etc?

My friend suggested it might be because I time travel. Is it because of that?

I don't expect this to be too much of a problem latee onces i get paths and such down, but I'm really curious as to what's causing this.

It was especially bad in my old town. I lived under the river and everyone moved there and then there was absolutely no one above the river once the original villagers moved.

Place some patterns where you don't want villagers to move! As long as you keep some open spaces, they'll not move on top of patterns.

Yep, just place some patterns where you don't want a villager's house to be. As for why they are moving close to you, it happens to me all of the time, too. Some villagers in the past have been so close that when I would start my game I would see the top of their house instead of my character's feet! lol
