Villagers giving me his items unprompted?

I have been playing ACNH for a week now, but as my post count suggest I have been playing AC games before. Please be gentle with me, I know little of ACNH mechanics.
Today Marshal out of no where gave me item that belongs in his home(one of his coffee makers), we are friends I think, but why would he empty his house out for me?
Is he going to continue to do that until he has no furniture left? What do I do? I dont want him to live in an empty house, even if he did it himself!

Sometimes villagers that you're friends with will run up and give you random furniture a gift. It's probably just a coincidence that it was an item that he also displays in his house, and his house should stay the same. Unless you're saying that when you went into his house after he gave it to you, it was missing? Because that, I haven't heard of before, that might be something unusual if that's the case.

and dont worry! his house wont be empty, the more you talk to villagers and interact with them, the more friendlier and bond you two will have so that will mean that sometimes villagers will come up to you and give you a bunch of random gifts, just like how you can give them gifts!

I ve noticed that when I go into villagers houses certain items will cycle from time to time.... Like in Raymonds house for example every few days there seems to be a subtle change, however I've never seen a change in Ankah's house that wasn't because of an item I donated to her.

I think this has happened to me as well. Marshal used to have a Menu Chalkboard in his house and one day he gave it to me, and the location where the item used to be was replaced with a flower I gave him. The same happened to Raymond with his water cooler, and a cat tower I gave him has taken its place. So, the villagers won't clear out their homes entirely, but if you have been giving them gifts, they may replace a few of the items in their home with your gifts.
