Yeah... Amelia just sold me some red lilies for like, 144 bells. I only bought them cause I was curious. Did anyone else know villagers could do that??
Usually my villagers sell me flowers if I've sent them flowers through a letter. I guess they can sell you anything that's in their personal inventory? The worst item they've tried to sell me is a pear - and considering that's my town fruit, I definitely didn't feel like handing them 200 bells for something I could get from a nearby tree
I’ve had them try to sell me fruit for an overpriced amount before after I gave it to them, so it’s possible that they had the flowers before and tried to sell them to you
The villagers will try to sell you whatever they have in their inventory slots (yes they do have those other than their houses' furniture slots). It's why you see them randomly putting a clothing in display one day or furniture you have not seen around before. Although, flowers spawning in their inventory slots is not a common occurance. There are two possibilities I think. You either gave it to them for birthday/sent it in a letter or they tried to plant it with beautiful town ordinance but couldn't because the place they chose wasn't available; bugging them to put it back in their pockets
