I'd like to hear people's bad experiences on villager trading and how you overcame/solved it.

My first time ever purchasing a villager (Zucker) was unsuccessful because we got disconnected. When we reconnected, his house says moved out but I time traveled a month just to check his plot and it's no use. Unfortunately, I already paid in full. :(

That's unfortunate, couldn't the seller refund you at least a part of your money? :(

Luckily I've never had issues with trading villagers - but then again I've only traded four times, and either got them for free or for hybrids.

Well why wouldn't the person just give your bells (or whatever you paid in) back? Shouldn't be that hard. If they're not refunding, just leave negative WiFi feedback if they're user here. I bet you'll get Zucker from someone else, hopefully soon.

You're lucky :) I'm starting to think that I should only trade villagers exclusively on giveaways. It offers the least problems since only goodwill is required.

the reason refunds dont happen in these situations is bc the op DID go and adopt zucker, so the person technically held their half of the trade. its not their fault zucker didnt show up in their town.

I have, luckily, not experienced any problem in a villager trade, and I have already achieved all my dreamies. ill prob swap some out someday tho so well see what happens

^Yup it was just an unfortunate accident. The one I got Zucker from didn't foresee the disconnection. We don't know who's at fault (likely nobody is at fault). It won't be fair to do a full refund because that's what he would have gotten paid if he sold Zucker to someone else.

It wasn't a trade for bells, but I was adopting a villager from someone and a perfect-storm series of events occurred:

- I arrive, follow her to the villager's house, talk to him and get his agreement to come to my town.
- The other player has either forgotten to or didn't know to close her gate.
- As I exit the villager's house, a third player enters the town without warning, causing the game to save
- A few seconds later, as I enter the train station in order to leave, the Resetti error pops up.

Result: villager is recorded on the other player's game as having moved out, but is not saved to my game since I didn't get back to my town properly. Villager is not simply voided, but completely and irrevocably wiped from existence. The other player and I were not happy.

Kids, stay safe: close your gates when you have someone over to adopt, and end session AS SOON AS they've got the move-in agreement.

When I went to adopt Ruby, I had to go to the town in question three times in order to adopt her.

The first time, I got to Ruby, she was going to move into my town, all fine. The host ended the session, but the save was really short. Host immediately told me Ruby was still there.
Second time, we simply errored out. Host said the third try would be the last one.
And on the third try, I said I'd leave via the train station. Did that, and Ruby was finally adopted.

Only problem I've had with villager adoption so far.

This is why you never save and end session immediately! >.<
Since if there is a DC and there was no save, even after talking to the villager, the home shouldn't say moved out and there can be a do over.
It is only after the game saves and a DC happens does that happen... And it doesn't happen as often that in middle of save do you get a random DC. But it does happen.

Lucky, myself and no one who has ever adopted from me or my cycle town have had any problems with no villagers showing up.
But I always make sure to end session immediately. Plus, I keep my friend list clear so no one random visits and screws up the process.

The only problem I have had is someone had a plot in their town that day they didn't know about and it was their 10th villager and couldn't adopt and another time a villager would just not prompt them to allow them to adopt... Just had to save-quit a couple times before Zell prompt them. ^^'

But I don't do actual villager trades. I only buy, sell, auction, or giveaway... Well, and void. I don't do my villager for your villager since too many things can go wrong there.
