So Beau finally asked to move and I was super happy about it so I let him but then he said he was going to stay instead. If I restart without saving will he ping me again to leave? or do I just need to wait for him to ask again?

I really wanted him gone

You can restart without saving and he'll still be leaving.

Yeah, unless you get that weird glitch that makes them stay anyway like I got with Erik (no I didn't respond to him or something after I reset still he stayed so yeah).

If I hear from another villager about someone moving who I don't care to keep, I just avoid them at all costs, even when I come across them and they ping me. I don't talk to them at all, and they still move out. I only talk to the ones I want to keep.

Neglect

That's unfortunate. I love Beau, lol. But anyway, simply don't talk to him on your own. When he pings you, deny whatever tasks he asks you to do for him. He will become unhappy and ask to move out after enough neglect.

When I got in such a situation, I mostly turned off my console without saving and ignored the
villager afterwards when I saw that he/she pinged me again because I know I would get asked
about moving out. They usually moved out then a few days later.

I actually had a similar problem with Canberra back then, still couldn't figure out how that
happened and because of this it took again a while till she finally moved out.

Sorry I do like him! His house is in an awful spot and I needed to remove him to make space for a villager I wanted! He’s gone now

I would just close the game without saving and like others have said, just ignore the villager so that they will move. I believe I've done this plenty of times and it worked. Also, I usually check in with my villagers to see if there are any rumors of someone moving out. If I hear that the villager that I want out is moving, then I just ignore them till they do.

I have a bad habit of talking to every villager when they ping me. I've had 3 who've pinged me after waiting to move out, only to change their minds and decide to stay. Ugghhhhhhhh. And I don't turn off my game because of another bad habit of not saving every. single. second. to avoid losing a lot of progress. I do save when I catch a rare bug or fish though I've made sure to remember that.

Best thing you can do is fast foward time if you have the bad habit of talking to all villagers who ping you like I do. When a villager tells me they're moving out, if I really don't want that villager to change their mind I go a day past the time they tell me their moving out. Maybe even three days just to be double sure.

If you restart the game without saving then he will still move and you won’t have to worry *phew* He will ping you again if he is out of his house and not in Main Street, regardless of whether or not he ping you though he will be moving out so my advice would be that unless he comes up to talk to you (pings) DO NOT go up and talk to him under any circumstances. Once you log into your game as mayor, the game automatically sets some things in stone/saves some things such as who is moving out and who if anybody will be in the campsite so beau is already saved to be moving out, reset and he’ll still be moving out and the data of him changing his mind will be gone :)
