so, I've been switching around my villagers a lot recently, but starting to hone in on who i want long term... Tangy, Flurry, O'hare are like best friends never gonna let you leave! Zucker and Timbra are probably gonna be like that, but i haven't gotten on that level with them yet....

I thought Julian was gonna be a homie I would keep the whole time, but he is kinda fading on me... I put lots of effort into his house... bushes, hybrids and such, but Im thinking of letting him go!

I like to keep one species of animal, and I had Papi in my last town and thought he was awesome, so I'm leaning towards switching... thoughts, experience, ideas? please help me out I seriously am conflicted by this

I definitely know your dilemma! I had an almost all cat town....now swapping out for others that I like. I have told my kids to jot down the villagers they love, like and don't (of the peeps they have) and next to it, write their respective personality types.

Then, write down a handful of peeps you love that you don't have, and their respective personalities. Go from there. It will probably stand out to you.

For example, I just decided yesterday that it was important to me to have Beau as my Lazy (for Fauna, of who will never leave) instead of Punchy, who I liked, but didn't "love"....

How I managed to get all of my dreamies very fast was by using this simple method: Figure out if you want any specifications, such as one of a species, 5 girls 5 boys, etc. From there narrow down using that. Write down any villager you like that fits your criteria. Now, go and lurk VTP. Whatever pops up first, be it an auction or a giveaway, you go for it.

I feel you. I had the same problem with my main town. I decided to write down all the villagers that I currently had, villagers I didn't want anymore, and villagers that I wanted. I eventually narrowed it down to the the villagers that I really wanted with the villagers I wasn't feeling anymore and it helped a lot. Though I also made sure of their personality, trying to have at least one of each.

I really like that idea! will probably do it tonight! I also just got a pang of regret when someone on another post wrote that keeping some of their original 6 is important... as all mine are gone! but maybe making homage to my first town in Gamecube would be appropriate while combining the new elements of new leaf i like... a lot of those guys are still around, and Tangy already fits

It helped me decide to let go of Julian! I will come up with better ideas anyway than just color scheme stuff

Some people (like me) can be content with certain villagers forever. I have a lot though, so I have two towns. I have most of my dreamies on my main town (only missing two) and I picked up someone from my igloo today who isn't a dreamie but someone I just like. It's good to play around and explore your options. I can look at a villagers design and decide whether or not I want them, but some people like to get to know them. A lot of people don't like smugs but I love them. Ultimately go with the ones you like the most. No sense in loading a town full of animals you hate.
