Hello! I'm interested in actually creating a pattern for my villager houses jnstead of just plotting them smack dab in the middle of nowhere for my new town. I'd like them to be in a straight line, with my mayor's house in the middle. How do I place patterns to stop them from plotting in undesired places?

What I do first is outline the spaces where I want the villagers to plot, leaving an open space for the doorway. I'm not sure if the doorway space is necessary but it doesn't hurt. So below is how the plot looks with the X meaning a pattern and the O as open space.

OOOOOOO
OXXXXXO
OXOOOXO
OXOOOXO
OXOOOXO
OXXOXXO
OOOOOOO

Then, I place patterns every 2 spaces or so throughout the rest of my town, making sure not to leave any 3x3 area open. Sometimes, you have to work around trees, pwps, and other houses, but the basic pattern is below, again with X as a pattern and O as open space (trees, bushes, and flowers can be in the open spaces).

OXOOXOOX
OOOOOOOO
OXOOXOOX

Just be very careful when laying down the patterns around town. It's easy for your mind to trick you and think that an area is covered because it has a lot of trees or flowers.

Just so you know and from personal experience they can always do what they want.

To be safe, create always a new charactare in "new game" anche check the villager's house.

Thanks for the advice, guys! I'll try it out later tonight. I'm getting pretty much all of my villagers before I start with PWPs or anything else, so I should be okay.
