Villager Plot Resetting Issues - Any experienced resetters out there?

Does anyone know the best way to approach this method of plot resetting? I feel like I messed up from the beginning of preplanning my PWPs, and from the looks of it everytime I completely reset the 3DS, Francine still moves into the same general plot areas from before. I'm wondering if it's because I gave her so much room to work with that each time she tries to plot her land there, it's off by a few spaces, but everytime she plots into another area it's always more controlled and focused

Not sure how many general areas your plot is appearing in, but it is possible to time travel backwards to the day before the plot is scheduled to appear and construct a PWP to block off a general area. (Ex: Francine's plot is showing up on the 26th. You can TT back to the 25th to build another PWP and then TT to the 26th to carry on with your usual make a new character/check areas/reset/repeat.)

Ahh, how often can you do this? I am maxed out on PWPs so I probably need to replot all of them to maximize space and everything :/ Also, I think I may have the general area patterned in this runthrough! I thought it was hopeless but I just got 4 times really close to the place I want her to move in so hopefully it'll be much easier from this point! Thanks c:

Since you're already maxed out, I don't really think you can do anything about it other than keep on plot resetting. Even if you weren't maxed out, you can only build one PWP a day anyways. In any case you could definitely just wait until after Francine moves in to start replotting PWPs for the future.

Thanks for the responses! Guess I'm stuck with betting on RNG. I probably will update my PWPs to make it easier to plot reset after she moves in

Update: it helped! I tried and tried for perfection, but it was just one space back from ideal. Perfectionist is my name. I wanted perfect but the trick worked better than standard methods.

Bonus: One time I got a plot placement TOTALLY different where I've never seen before and never thought possible! It works. Thank you for posting the link!

Finally got Fauna in the perfect spot after a day of resetting! thanks for introducing me to this trick

That's a really interesting theory that sounds plausible/could be in line with the problems that I'm having. It just so happens to be that the plot I want the house in is in the far upper right corner of the map. (Here's a picture I took of the space I want it to go, it's the upper right house and the border to the right is the cliff: http://imgur.com/fcsqvsV ) There's barely any space there for possible plots to spawn compared with all the space of the rest of the town. (Edit: uploaded my map of my town http://imgur.com/e63feUX )

So theoretically it still is possible for a plot to spawn somewhere in the upper right corner and then "move" down/left a space to wedge into the perfect position I guess. It's just very unlikely that the plot would go into the spot I want because most of the plots are "moving" up/right from the lower/more left parts of town. (If that makes sense.) Most of the plots I've seen are in the bottom three possible spaces, and I've seen the plot appear in the upper left only a few times.

Now I'm really curious, what's been your experience with this? :O

With my town (see map below with the frequent plotting locations circled), I had a wide open area in the southern part of my map which I wanted all of my villagers to move in to. Even though there was a ton of space there and I used PWPs to block off most of the areas on the northern part of my map, villagers would often plot in small areas like between the river and town plaza which are close to each other or between my plaza and Re-Tail which are also close. Another popular spot was right south of the waterfall in the small area between it and the cliff to the beach. Houses would also plot in the northwest strip of land in my town and south of the southwestern pond right above the cliff. With these locations, I thought they were small enough areas that a villager might try to plot there once or twice, but then I'd go and plot reset and they would repeatedly pick these spots even though there wasn't much room for them to move in those places. This is why I came up with the theory that the plots move away from illegal locations to areas close to them.
