Basically I run an all squirrel town and I demanded my squirrels I adopt to be totally original. In fact, all 10 of my squirrels are totally original in every way. Am I weird to prefer my little buddies to be this way instead of "well loved" aka used to the point of no desire for people like me? lol

When I adopt villagers I prefer them to be original too. However, Their house won't be original after being in my town because I feel bad when I turn down their request.

Oh see I don't because certain requests*fruit requests, coming to my/their houses/fetching villagers* I won't turn down.

It's not weird at all! I think we all like new things, even I prefer original villagers just so I can mold and shape them the way I want, sometimes the customs they have from a previous town takes awhile to change and I tend to not like the shirts or things in the house because it looked off and through time I ended up paying more attention to the littles things more than I did before xD

I always want Zucker original.... but he is like the only one, his house and look doesn't really makes sense without the flan tank and sushi conveyors.....

but I would never let him go now :D
everyone else I'm ok with, just not looking terrible and stupid catchphrases
Ankha said Marramius for soooo long, it was so annoying, but she finally changed it

Yeah I got him original. His house was like a sushi buffet. Too bad I didn't think about how to keep villagers original back then. Once he was in that ducky shirt I was over him. But now his type doesn't fit in my town.

Yeah I don't really care tbh... in fact a while back I had a thread which was pretty much the opposite of this, ha!

I love finding outfits and furniture that I think will look cute for a certain villager... I love making them more unique, but that certainly doesn't mean their houses are full of trash! And it is a bit annoying when a beloved villager decides to move and nobody wants them because they aren't "original"... well you know, I spent hours getting their house to look like that, on purpose tyvm.

idk, I just think it's more interesting when my characters don't look like everyone else's... but it's fine because I have had a LOT of tier 1's for free because nobody wanted a "well loved", haha!

Edit: Just wanted to add... when some people say they want to adopt them original, but don't care once they are in their town... why? If you are going to "ruin" their house anyway, what does it even matter that they are original in the first place? You are missing out on a bargain :D I guess my childhood spent browsing charity shops has had a fundamental impact on how I view "used goods" :/

But I am the type that likes visiting Marshal's sloppy house without touching it. Is that weird to not want to disturb the furniture of a villager's house?

I wouldn't call it weird, but I would call it foolhardy. Or crazy brave. You have to really work hard at keeping your villager's houses original in this game, and be strong enough to disappoint them when you turn down about half of their many requests.

I don't care at all if they are original or not. The main thing is that you get your dreamie.

I wouldn't say it's weird at all. It's kind of like buying a new game or a new phone, I like them to be brand new so I can open the packing etc. It just feels better that way. In regards to villagers I'm not too concerned about it. It's mostly the villager I really want, I do prefer originality where possible but if I have opportunity to get a dreamie and they're not original I won't turn it down either.
I do change up all of my villager houses to furniture I prefer after I've got them anyway, and if you're getting them from another town they will always have that thing where they mention their previous town/tune etc. Which gets a bit annoying.
I got an unoriginal Bam and Marina because I love them so much. And even my 100% original Zucker and Kyle changed their tops within a couple of days without me knowing.

So no, not weird at all. It's just something you're either concerned with or you aren't, it's just a preference. Nothing wrong with that :)

I wouldn't say it's weird. I mean, you like what you like. I won't adopt anyone because I don't want a villager talking about their old town or singing an old town tune. We all have our preferences.

No I don't think thats wrong or weird. Its just your personal preference, everyone has their own feelings and opinions about things c: I dont really care for originality, as long as I get my dreamie I'm happy ^^

Personally, I don't really get the idea of wanting an 'original' villager or not. They still have the same personality regardless of wearing a different shirt, having different furniture or saying a different catchphrase. Heck, two of the villagers I adopted were unoriginal and yet I still wanted them in town because of their overall appearance or personality traits.

As for being 'crazy' about wanting things specifically as they are, I don't think you are. x) People like different things, and it's actually more challenging to seek for an unoriginal specific villager rather than taking on a villager that had a lovely time in one town and wants to move on. As stated further up in the thread, there is an incredible amount of patience involved in trying to get a villager with specific items on hand, and I respect that.

I only adopt original villagers. I want them "brand new", basically. Once they're in my town, I try to keep their houses fairly original, but it's not a big deal. Really I just don't want them to have a house full of bugs and fish, anything else is okay! I don't care about clothes and catchphrase. Actually I like them to change a bit, because then it feels like they've become unique, if that makes any sense. Like my Ruby is different to other people's Ruby. Plus I try to keep villagers as original as possible if I don't plan on keeping them, so a completely original villager to me doesn't feel like a proper resident. They're just temporary.

I suppose some people might think it's silly to hunt down an original villager only to let them change their shirt or whatever later when unoriginal villagers are cheaper to adopt in the first place, but that's just how I like to do things. XD;

Everyone has their own opinion and preferences when it comes to this, so I don't think anyone is "ridiculous" for what they want :]

Originality was never important to me. As long as they were moving into my town, all I care about is the villager. But if you do, it's your style.

You're entitled to like what you like :P

I personally don't care if a villager is original or not. I can change any weird catchphrases they might have, and give them furniture I think would look better in their house than what they have; it just takes time.

I don't care if they aren't original, but I do mind a bit if their house is full of bugs and fish. Although, even if it is full of bugs and fish I'd probably try my best to bring it back to it's original state. Lately i've been wanting my villagers' catchphrases to stay original whereas previously I didn't care. For some reason I just got really fussed when Fuchsia changed her catchphrase to Genji's. Or maybe it was because it really, really didn't suit her. LOL.

I didn't really care that much but since I was making my all squirrel town I wanted them to be. I like seeing their original interiors a lot.

I don't care, but I would probably be a little wary of trading with anyone who "demands" anything lol :P
